I chuckled lightly, pushed away her hand, and showed the ring on my finger.
“I’m married. Your son should marry someone else.”
I left with my friends, hearing angry curses behind me.
“What are you so proud of?! My son liking you was your good fortune!”
I ignored the angry shouts behind me and said goodbye to my friends before heading home.
Just as I reached the door, I received a message on my phone.
“Don’t come home yet. Stay out for a while.”
Unfortunately, the message came too late.
Because I had just opened the door and was now face to face with Henry on the sofa.
There was another man sitting on the sofa, who looked somewhat similar to Henry.
But the calculation in his eyes was impossible to ignore.
He stared at me with a gloomy gaze, as if I was being eyed by a poisonous snake.
“This must be my sister–in–law. Hello, I’m Simon Shaw, Henry’s cousin.”
He reached out to shake my hand briefly.
The chill from his palm sent shivers
down
my spine.
“My cousin found such a beautiful wife. I wonder if he can keep her.”
Henry didn’t say anything, just kept coughing.
Simon said a few more words before leaving.
“Is he your enemy? Your cousin?”
Henry nodded, only returning to his normal self after making sure the person had left.
“Our fathers fought over the family fortune years ago. My dad won, and his dad jumped into the sea in despair. Since then, he’s held
a grudge against me, even poisoning my food and drinks. But I have no evidence. Just stay away from him.”
My scalp tingled, and I could only sigh inwardly.
What a messy situation.
Simon somehow got hold of my phone number and called me while I was at work.
Simon somehow got hold of my phone number and called me while I was at work.
“Sister–in–law, can we talk?”
I was about to refuse when I heard Simon’s cold laugh through the receiver.
“I have some important information about Henry here. For example, he has someone he loves. Do you want to hear about it,
sister–in–law?”
I agreed without changing my expression.
“I’m in the coffee shop downstairs from your office. You can come over now.”
He had even found out my address.
I suppressed my unease and went to meet him.
As soon as I sat down, Simon handed me a bank card.
“There’s a hundred million in here. If you help me do one thing, the money is yours.”
Simon’s face bore a confident smile.
“You must know how close Henry and I are, right?”
After all, everyone in the mansion knows.
“I know a bit, but I think you’ve been deceived. Henry actually has someone he loves.”
My heart skipped a beat.
“Who is it?”
“I’m not sure. Henry has protected her well. But you’ve never been in the last room on the third floor, have you? The answer you
want might be there.”
Simon left after saying this, leaving the bank card on the table.
I took the card and returned home in the evening, handing it directly to Henry.
Ridiculous. Why would I help an outsider instead of my own husband?
“What else did he say?” Henry looked at the card with a half–smile.
“He said you have someone you love, and that the answer I want is in the room on the third floor.”
Henry’s hand suddenly paused.
Could it be true?
A wave of disappointment washed over me.
“You really have someone you love?”
“If I say yes, will Fiona burst into tears right away?”
“If I say yes, will Fiona burst into tears right away?”
Henry immediately stood up and put his arm around my waist.
“Come on, I’ll take you upstairs to see.”
