His expression was resolute, not like someone who was lying.
Strangely, I found myself beginning to doubt my own judgment.
I stared at him suspiciously.
“Are you refusing to admit it? You arranged for Zara to join the company and even bought her a luxury car.
“And Tyler too. His illegitimate daughter is already four years old. He betrayed Lena even before marrying her. You’re both scumbags!”
Luke seemed stunned by what I said, even stuttering when he responded.
“That’s not true! What are you thinking, Zoe? What Zara? What illegitimate daughter?”
His reaction looked guilty, but after being with him for so many years, I understood his current state.
Luke was completely different in front of me than he was in front of others.
In the public eye, he was a young and accomplished entrepreneur, but privately he liked to act spoiled with me. Every time I questioned him, he would get nervous and stutter.

I looked at him in confusion.

Luke’s expression changed repeatedly, finally settling into a mix of anger and grievance.
“Honey! How can you not trust me!
“I have nothing going on with Zara at all. She does like to cling to me, but I’ve clearly rejected her long ago!
“That Ferrari wasn’t bought by me for her either. Her father bought it, but used my name to give it to her.”
This explanation couldn’t convince me.
“If Zara’s father wanted to buy her a car, why would he use your
name?
“Also, the night before going to the island, I called you. Do you remember?”
Luke shook his head, looking somewhat anxious,

“Zara’s father is abroad, but Zara urgently needed a car at the time, so her father asked me to buy it. He owed me a favor. Later he even gave me a project, with the condition that Zara be the project manager,

After this long string of explanations, Luke suddenly fell silent.
He lowered his head, his tone becoming somber.

He released my hand and slowly caressed my cheek.
His large, warm palm brushed across my face. I met his eyes.

my fault. I’ve been so focused on the company’s business that I neglected your feelings.
“But could you trust me a little more? I’ll explain everything clearly. I’ll handle the Zara situation too. I just ask that you don’t leave me again, okay?”
The emotions I had forcibly suppressed in my heart were awakened in this moment.
Looking into Luke’s eyes full of deep affection, I almost wanted to embrace him immediately.
“Zoe? So you really are here!”
