Chapter 4 Leanna’s Welcome Party
Seeing Lamar together with Leanna, Willa was very nervous.
She immediately pulled Graciela to another side.
She must stop Graciela from seeing Lamar again!
“Grace, why don’t we go somewhere else?” she suggested.
Graciela soon regained composure, her fleeting frustration vanishing.
She smiled, “Why? I think it’s perfect here.”
With that, she stepped onto the dance floor, pushing Willa’s hands trying to stop her away.
She came straight to the stage in the middle of the dance floor.
Upon seeing her, a gorgeous beauty, someone immediately
whistled. She smiled, tossed her hair, and started to dance to the
music freely.
She enjoyed being the center of attention.
Especially when she met Lamar’s gaze–she was almost
shivering with excitement.
She curved her lips and smiled at him utterly charmingly.
Lamar’s body froze slightly.
He was surprised by his reaction, thinking, “Damn it!
“I can’t believe Graciela’s smile alone turned me on.
“Maybe this is because my body has gotten used to her. After all,
we shared the same bed for five years.
“But… why is she here?
“To hook up with men again?”
His expression darkened a bit.
He had never been a fan of such places. He had been dragged by his friend to come here for the first time, and today, he was here for Leanna’s welcome party.
Yet, he ran into Graciela both times.
Was this lucky or unlucky?
“Lamar?”
Leanna’s voice rang out, but Lamar still fixed his gaze on
Graciela dancing on stage.
Leanna followed his line of sight and spotted Graciela, too.
Under the neon lights, Graciela was almost glowing, her every dancing move deeply alluring.
Clutching the glass tightly, Leanna suppressed her resentment.
She said, feigning gentleness, “What a nice coincidence.
“Lamar, that’s Graciela, right? She’s indeed pretty!”
Graciela looked somewhat like her.
Lamar frowned.
“I no longer have anything to do with her,” he said.
Hearing this, Leanna wrapped her arms around his waist.
She said, looking a bit aggrieved, “Lamar, I don’t mind how many women you’ve been with. I know I’m always the one you love the most. What happened before was all my fault. And
now, I’m back. I just want us to be together happily…”
Lamar put her hands on his waist away.
“It’s all in the past now.”
She was slightly stunned and then looked down sadly.
“You still won’t forgive me, Lamar”
Instead of responding to that, Lamar changed the subject.
“Brendan and the others are here. Today is about welcoming you back, so just enjoy. Dwelling on the past will just kill the mood.”
The second Brendan Kennedy and other Lamar’s friends
walked into the club, they were attracted by the woman dancing on the central stage. Immediately, they recognized her -it was Graciela!
Brendan was shocked. After a few seconds, he turned to look at the expressionless Lamar and said, “That is Graciela, your lover on stage, right? What’s gotten into you? You actually allowed her to go on there and dance in front of so many people?
“Even we hardly ever saw her.””
Lamar said, his tone stern, “Graciela and I are over.”
Those present had known each other since childhood, and they all came from prominent families. Keeping lovers was very
common among them.
Lamar, however, was the only exception–he had always kept
his distance from women. Because of that, the news of him
keeping Graciela as his lover had caused quite a stir back then.
Brendan glanced at Leanna, who pulled a long face, and
instantly realized something.
He then looked back at Graciela, who only grew more and more attractive per second.
He couldn’t help but blurt out, “Now that she’s your ex–wife, I can court her, right? I’m quite interested in her, you know…”
Before he could finish, Lamar shot him a sharp, cold glance, silencing him at once.
He complained under his breath, “You just said you were over. How come you’re still so possessive of her?”
Lamar picked up his glass and sipped the wine, his expression inscrutable.
Meanwhile, Graciela walked down the stage.
The dance had made her the center of everyone’s attention, and countless men tried to chat her up. Willa dragged her, wanting desperately to take her away.
Graciela shook Willa’s hand away, a bit baffled as to why Willa
seemed so worried.
She said, “I’ll go to the restroom to retouch my makeup. Wait for me here.””
Looking at Graciela’s retreating figure, Willa wept for her own future.
She thought, “If Emery knows I took Graciela here and bumped into Lamar, he’d totally make me pay for it!”
***
Graciela retouched her makeup in the restroom. As she stepped out, a man rested his hand on her shoulder.
“Pretty, are you alone? Your dancing is pretty amazing. Wanna hang out?”
She turned around and said with a half–smile, “I suggest you
remove your hand..
“Or I’ll make sure you regret you didn’t.”
She wasn’t some delicate doll. In fact, she had been practicing fighting ever since little and could fight with several men all at
once.
“My, my. You’re such a feisty little minx, aren’t you? You’re
exactly my type,” the man said with a lewd smile while moving
his hand downward.
Just as Graciela wanted to hit him, she saw a hand with slender fingers grab the man by his collar and toss him away.
With a loud thud, the man crashed into the wall, wailing in
pain.
