“Claudia, Leonie might’ve been wrong, but you can’t insult her like that,” Gerard said coldly.
Thomas frowned and gave Claudia a sharp look. “From now on, don’t let me hear you say anything bad about Leonie again.”
Then he put his arm around me and walked off without looking back.
We headed straight home.
As soon as we got inside, I wrapped my arms around Thomas’s waist and playfully ran my hands over his abs.
“Honey, you looked so cool when you stood up for me just now. I really liked it!”
His ears turned a little red, and he cleared his throat. “As long as you liked it.”
I reached for his belt.
“Honey, it’s freezing out. Let’s go warm up in bed, okay?”
“It’s still early.”
“Who says we have to wait until bedtime?” I kissed his neck and whispered, “I lost my memory, remember? I can’t re- call how it felt anymore. Can you help me remember?”
Thomas swallowed hard, his voice low and shaky. “Leonie, stop messing around.”
I pulled him down onto the couch.
He resisted for a second or two, but then gave in and rolled on top of me.
From that afternoon until late at night, Thomas was like a starving wolf–he could not get enough.
I was exhausted and fell asleep soon after.
Half–asleep, I heard his husky voice in my ear, “Leonie, did you really lose your memory?”
I opened my mouth, but no words came out.
Does it matter anymore?
Actually, I wanted to ask him the same thing.
You clearly did not want to join this game from the start, so why did you end up playing along?

The next day, Thomas took me to the hospital for a brain scan.
I did not expect to run into Gerard and Claudia in the lobby.
Claudia spotted us first.
“Leonie, Tho… Gerard, what a coincidence.” She gently rested her hand on her belly, looking smug. “I’m pregnant. Just came in for a prenatal check–up. What about you two?”
Thomas gave her a glance and answered coolly, “Just here to get Leonie checked.”
Gerard did not say anything, but his eyes were fixed on our hands that were tightly clasped together.
Then, his gaze shifted. When he noticed the faint kiss marks on my neck, his expression changed.
“What happened to your neck?” His tone suddenly turned sharp.
I looked up at Thomas with a shy smile and said sweetly, “You’ll have to ask my husband.”
Gerard turned to Thomas, his stare dark and unreadable.
I used the moment to excuse myself. “I still need to go get a CT scan. You guys go ahead and talk.”
Right after I left, Claudia was called into the ultrasound room.
Left standing there, Gerard finally spoke, his voice cold as ice as he stared at Thomas. “Thomas, did you sleep with her?”
