The birthday banquet was scheduled for the evening, and Sophia would attend with Tristan.
On the second–floor staircase, Tristan looked at her and whispered, “Sophia, do you really want me to accompany you?”
Today’s banquet was attended by all the prominent figures in Fairbanks. If they were to attend together, it would be a public declaration of their relationship.
Raising her head to meet his nervous gaze, Sophia chuckled and directly held his hand. “Of course, you are the one I have chosen. I just want you to accompany me.”
Her words were firm, causing Tristan’s heart to skip a beat.
He gently held her in his arms, tightening his grip, “Sophia, I swear I will always treat you well for the rest of my life.”
“Tristan, I trusted you.”
The banquet was filled with clinking glasses and mingling, as the two of them attended together, earning praise and blessings from the crowd.
Amidst the bustling crowd, Arnold, covered in dust, returned.
He stood at the doorway, his gaze fixed firmly on Sophia. He hadn’t expected that in just half a month, she would already have another man by her side!

The window in the utility room was opened a crack, and a gentle breeze blew through the curtains.
In the moonlight outside the window, she clearly saw the deep longing in his eyes.
