Chapter 18
“Sophia, can I come in?”
Upon hearing her mother’s voice, Sophia finally let go of the tension in her heart and said, “Mom, come in, the door isn’t locked.”
The door of the room was quickly pushed open, and she saw Fiona walking in with a steaming bowl of noodles.
“Sophia, I knew you were coming back today, so I specially made your favorite pork rib noodles. Quickly taste it and see if it still tastes the same as before.”
Upon hearing this, Sophia immediately got out of bed and started eating the noodles with great gusto.
Soon, a bowl of pork rib noodles was finished. She patted her stomach and leaned against Fiona’s legs, looking satisfied. “Mom, your cooking is still the best. I’ve been craving it so much these days when I was outside.”
Fiona gently touched her head and then spoke as if she had made up her mind: “Sophia, when I got home this afternoon, I happened to see you and Arnold arguing. What happened between you two?”
When Sophia heard her mother mention Arnold, she immediately sat up with a start, a hint of panic flashing in her eyes. “Mom, what did you see?”
Fiona knew her daughter very well, and when she saw the uncertain look in her eyes, she had the answer in her heart.

“I saw Arnold holding you tightly in his arms.”
As soon as these words were spoken, the room suddenly fell silent. Sophia’s hands trembled, and for a moment she didn’t know how to explain.
“Sophia, what exactly happened between you and Arnold? What happened between you two in New York?”
Sophia bit her lip, hesitated for a moment, and then finally told her mother about their previous relationship, seeing the worry in her mother’s eyes.
“Mom, I was with Arnold before, but now we have separated and will not have any contact in the future. You don’t need to worry too much.”
“How could I not worry!”
“Do you know how many people would talk behind your back if news of you being with Arnold got out? You’re about to get married soon, and if this news reaches the Graham family, it will definitely cause a huge uproar!”
Fiona never imagined that her daughter would end up with Arnold!
Taking a deep breath, Fiona immediately came up with the perfect solution in her mind.
“Sophia, now that Arnold has returned to Fairbanks, he must be trying to win you back. Since you have already decided to be with Tristan, you should move out of the Melton family tomorrow to avoid seeing Arnold. I will talk to Anderson tomorrow and ask him to discuss with the Graham family about moving up the wedding date. Only this way can we make Arnold give up!”

Upon hearing her mother’s arrangement, Sophia quickly agreed. She had already decided to cut off contact with Arnold when she returned to Fairbanks, but she never expected him to be so stubborn and persistently try to entangle with her!
Fiona saw how obedient she was, reached out and tucked the stray hair on her forehead behind her ear, and said gently, “Sophia, Mom is doing this for your own good. You and Arnold are siblings, destined not to be together. Let the foolishness of youth fade away with time. Just focus on living your own life from now on, okay?”
Lowering her gaze with complex emotions, Sophia replied gently and firmly, “Mom, I understand what you mean. I will talk to Tristan about moving up the wedding date tomorrow, so he can discuss it with the Graham family as soon as possible.”
“As for Arnold, I have let go. Between him and me, there can only be a sibling relationship, nothing more.”
