Chapter 8
On the other side.
Arnold stayed with Cassandra at the hospital for an entire day. It wasn’t until night fell that she slowly opened her eyes.
“Arnold… ”
A familiar voice reached his cars. A trace of joy flashed in Arnold’s eyes, and he immediately grasped her hand in return. “Cassandra, you’re finally awake. You scared me to death!”
Seeing his urgency and worry, a trace of satisfaction flickered in Cassandra’s eyes.
“Arnold, is our baby okay?” she placed her right hand on her lower abdomen and asked in a weak voice.
Hearing this, Arnold immediately spoke up. “Cassandra, don’t worry. Our baby is fine. But the doctor said you need to rest and recuperate for now.”
“Oh right, I specially asked Lara to make beef broth just now. Let me feed you some, okay?”
“Okay, I’ll listen to whatever you say.‘
Cassandra leaned against the hospital bed. Seeing him busily moving about, a determined gleam passed through her eyes.
This man could only be hers.

No one else was allowed to lay a finger on him!
The bowl of beef broth was quickly finished. Seeing the dark circles under his eyes, Cassandra immediately spoke considerately, “Arnold, you’ve been with me all day. I’m fine now. Go home and rest first,”
Having run around all day, Arnold was indeed exhausted,
Before leaving, he gently kissed her on the forehead, then took his phone and left the hospital.
When Arnold got to the underground parking lot to drive, he found his phone had died. After charging it, a message popped up,
It was from Sophia.
“Arnold, I know Cassandra is pregnant with your child. I hope you marry the one you love soon. Let’s break up.”
In an instant, Arnold seemed frozen in place. His hands trembled slightly, and uncontrollable fear and panic filled his eyes.
It was a long while before he came to his senses and dialed her number, but no one answered.
As if something occurred to him, he stepped on the gas and sped off.
When he got home, Arnold found that the once warm and cozy home was ow empty. Step by step, he made his way to the bedroom, where he saw the phone smashed into pieces on the floor. Suddenly, his heart sank, and a string in his mind broke with a crash!
Only then did Arnold realize why she had suddenly grown distant recently, why she had thrown away all the couple items–it turned out she had been preparing to leave!

What he thought was a perfect revenge plan, she had already seen through.
Arnold collapsed into a sitting position in the dark bedroom. His gaze was vacant as if all the strength had drained from his body.

Winters in Fairbanks were always especially cold.
As Sophia stepped out of the airport, the cold wind made her shiver.
She wrapped her coat tighter and took out her phone to call a ride, only to see a Maybach pull up in front of her.
Before she could react, the car door opened, and a stranger stepped in front of her.
“Hi, Ms. Beasley. I’m Tristan Graham.”
Sophia was not unfamiliar with the name–he was the man her mother had introduced as a marriage partner.
“Hello, I’m Sophia Beasley.”
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Tristan politely opened the car door for her, his voice warm. “Ms. Beasley, the temperature’s dropped today in Fairbanks. Let me take you home to rest first.”
Sophia wasn’t someone who played coy. Since they were marriage partners, they would be seeing a lot of each other in the future–there was no need to act aloof.
“Alright. Thank you, Mr. Graham.”

Once seated in the car, the chill on her body gradually faded.
It was their first meeting, and they hadn’t had any prior contact. Sitting together in such a confined space inevitably felt a little awkward.
Just as Sophia was about to speak to ease the tension, he suddenly handed her a stack of documents.
“Ms. Beasley, this is my personal profile. It includes my academic history, awards, medical report, and credit report.
“I’m 29 years old. I’ve had one relationship, but we broke up due to incompatible personalities. Now that I’m older, I need a wife. I hope you’ll seriously consider me.”
Tristan spoke with warmth and grace, his demeanor lacking any arrogance.
Flipping through the profile in her hands, Sophia’s lips curved slightly. “This man is actually quite interesting!” came the thought.
“Mr. Graham, I’ll take the file. I’ll read it carefully once I get home.”
She smiled gently, and the awkwardness between them eased. It was as if the distance between them had quietly closed.
