Chapter 21
Ambrose looked unhappy as he noticed that his mother wasn’t there
behind Yvonne and Seymour. “Dad, didn’t you say you were going to pick behind Yvonne and Seymour.
up Mom today?”
He was supposed to go with them, but he slept in too late and missed the time to go.
Ambrose, you only have two more days of vacation left. You can’t sleep. in like this anymore.”
Ambrose pouted. He thought that since his mom wasn’t there, no one would tell him off, but now it was his dad giving him a lecture instead.
“Dad, you didn’t wake me up when you got up.”
Ambrose felt wronged. It wasn’t like he did it on purpose. His mom used to wake him up gently.
Yvonne forgot to wake Ambrose up because Seymour had hurried her to go to the hospital. Besides, it was Felicia’s duty all the time.
Seymour furrowed his brow. “Where’s Mary?”
Bettie had gone with Yvonne to the hospital, but Mary didn’t. Why hadn’t she managed to wake Ambrose up?
Mary looked embarrassed. “Sir, I did try, but he wouldn’t get up.”
Seymour had no idea how hard it was to wake Ambrose up.
Back when Mrs. Lucero was home, she would play some music first, then gently wake Ambrose up.
Chapter 21
But waking him up could easily annoy Ambrose. If he wasn’t happy, he wouldn’t eat breakfast.
When Felicia was around, she knew they were struggling, so she took it upon herself to wake Ambrose up.
Ambrose also took advantage of his mother not being around and tried to be a bit lazier.
Seymour was more furious. Was everything in the house going to fall apart just because Felicia wasn’t there?
With a stern face, Seymour went on. “Ambrose, Mary only wakes you up once a day. If you keep sleeping in, you won’t have to go to school.”
Ambrose looked surprised. “I don’t have to go to school? Is that a good thing?”
But soon enough, he realized what his father really implied. “Then you should stay home and write ‘I will wake up on time‘ a hundred times until you remember it. Ambrose, do you understand?”
Seymour looked strict.
Just as Ambrose was about to retort, Seymour’s phone rang.
He glanced at the phone and saw it was Edwina calling. “Edwina.”
“Seymour, have you brought Licia back home?” Edwina’s voice sounded
anxious.
Seymour’s expression darkened. “No, we went to the hospital this morning. The doctor said she still needed to stay in the hospital for two more
days. Is something wrong?”
Edwina’s voice became even more frantic. “So Licia isn’t home, either. Where did she go? I’m at the hospital, and the doctor said she left with the

baby!”
Seymour’s eyes narrowed. “Wait for me. I’ll be there soon.”
Yvonne noticed Seymour’s unusual behavior. “What’s wrong, Sey?”
Seymour didn’t respond. Instead, he immediately pulled out his phone and called Felicia. The phone rang for a long time but the call didn’t get through.
He called again, but this time the call was hung up.
Seymour’s gaze turned cold. This was the second time Felicia had hung up on him.
Yvonne didn’t know what was happening and anxiously asked. “Seymour, talk to me, what’s going on?”
He took a deep breath and slowly said, “Felicia has left the hospital.”
“Thank you for cleaning the house for me, Jarred.”
Jarred smiled. “It’s nothing. really. We were told to help you out. The most important thing now is to rest, Felicia. Don’t feel burdened. After you’re done with your confinement, there will be plenty of work waiting for you back at the lab.”
Felicia smiled. She still felt grateful even though he was just being polite.
“I’ve found you a nanny. She doesn’t talk much, but she takes care of everything.”
“Thank you, Jarred.”
If it weren’t for his help, she couldn’t have left the hospital so quickly.
Looking at her neat and tidy apartment, she felt contented.
Though they hadn’t divorced yet. Felici felt like at least she had taken the first step toward a new life.
But the Lucero family was not having it so easy.
“Is Felicia crazy” Where can she go with the baby all by herself? She’s deliberately hiding the baby from us. I want to ste her!”
Yvonne was burning with anger, and Edwina’s face was also grim.
They had
already one to the hospital to visit Felicia, only to find that she had
gone.
The Lucero family couldn’t explain the situation, and with both her husband and son away on business trips, Edwina was extremely worried.
Mabel secretly felt pleased. Even she hadn’t expected Felicia to disappear with the baby.
But as a woman, she knew that Felicia wouldn’t really just disappear.
