Chapter 11 Thin Shadow
Eva took the card.
It was shameless, but at this point, there was no room to care about dignity.
The food arrived quickly. Eva didn’t say anything more, focusing solely crowd.

Each person passing by outside had a different expression, different emotions, and was going through different things.
In this world, there are always people luckier than you, with things you cannot have, but there are also those who are less fortunate, never having what you have.
Life, ah, one must learn to let go.
Éva finished her meal cleanly, drinking a large glass of water afterward.]
“Looks like you were really hungry?” Sean looked at her, shaking his head with a smile.]]
“I didn’t eat breakfast,” Eva said with a bit of embarrassment but still honestly.
Ever since her grandfather passed away, she hadn’t eaten much for breakfast. She wasn’t hungry, and she was too lazy to make it herself.
Some people in this world care more about themselves than you do, and her grandfather was one of them.
“I understand,” Sean nodded, pouring himself a glass of water. When he put the cup down, he looked at Eva again, his eyes now filled with a hint of curiosity. “I remember you used to talk a lot?“[]
Three years. My husband doesn’t love me, my in–laws don’t care for me, and I just lost my grandfather. Do you think that wouldn’t make me grow?“]]
If a person doesn’t learn to grow with their environment, then they deserve to be abandoned by this world.
Eva said this calmly, lightly, but sometimes, the more lightly something is said, the heavier it feels.[]
Eva had already fully accepted everything.]
“Yeah, you’re right. I shouldn’t have been so persistent. I wasted three years. Even though my grandfather’s health would have ended up this way eventually, it would have been good if he could have seen me happy for a few more years.“[]
Sean was silent for a few seconds, then stood up. “I’ll pay the bill.“[]
Eva nodded, watching his figure as he walked to the counter.]
She watched him deeply. It was as if a dream had just ended, and she finally realized she had never truly received anything from hum. What she had always seen was just his unattainable back.[]
She had tried to reach out to grab him, but in the end, all she caught was empty air.
She stood up, took the property deed that Sean hadn’t picked up, and walked toward him.
When Eva reached his side, Sean had just paid the bill. He turned to see Eva handing him the property deed.[]

“Loan for collateral, or buy it directly, or both, whatever works, just let me know.“[]
“Alright,” Sean nodded and took it.
The two of them left the restaurant and slowly walked back to Sean’s company building.[]
“Thanks for today,” when they reached the door, Eva stopped, clearly aware of her own boundaries.[]
“Eva,” Sean looked at her, his expression suddenly more serious, “Since you came to ask for my help, about Luke…“[
“Is there a problem?” Eva looked up at him.[]
Sean didn’t speak, just looked at her intently.[]
Eva lowered her gaze, nodding. She could feel the importance of the bank card in her pocket. After all, they were still married. Sean’s words were still something she needed to listen to, and she still needed to consider Sean’s face.[]
Seeing her nod, Sean seemed satisfied. He looked down at his watch and spoke, “I… have a meeting this afternoon.“]
“Alright, you go ahead,” Eva nodded, then turned to leave.]
Sean didn’t rush to leave immediately. He stood in place, watching Eva’s figure as she walked away.
Eva’s figure was very thin.[]
