Chapter 12 Stomach Pain
Eva left Sean and then went to the company.
In the evening, Lily called her, urging her to finish up and come home quickly.
When Eva got home, Lily was already there. She had a spare key and was in the kitchen preparing hotpot.
“How’s it going? Haven’t you eaten your fill in a while? You‘ little smug, expecting praise.[]

“It’s been a while, yes. Do you need help?” Eva smiled as she closed the door behind her.
“No need for you to do anything, just wash your hands and eat,” Lily smiled brightly.]
Eva washed her hands, but still rolled up her sleeves to help Lily. As she helped set the table with food and meatballs, she took a quick glance at Lily’s profile.]]
She hesitated slightly before speaking.
“Lily, how about you give me the spare key back?”
“Why?” Lily responded with surprise, “You’re not living with Sean anymore, and there’s no new guy. Why would you want to take the key back? I won’t agree. I’m worried you might fall at home again.”
Lily still had lingering fears from three years ago.
That’s why Lily had kept the key all this time, checking on Eva occasionally to make sure she was okay.
Eva sighed lightly, smiling patiently. “I’m planning to mortgage the house to Sean. I might even sell it, but I’m not sure yet. Just giving you a heads up. I’ll let you know once it’s settled.“[]
After all, if the house wasn’t hers anymore, Lily would no longer be able to hold on to the key.[]
Upon hearing Eva’s words, Lily grew even more displeased. “What do you mean? Sean can’t treat you like this.”
Lily took a deep breath, looking at Eva. “I know some good lawyers, how about…?“[]
“No need,” Eva quickly shook her head.]
There was no property dispute between them. They weren’t living together, so there was no conflict. The money from the Shaw family belonged to his parents.]
Moreover, Sean had already given her a card, which was as much as he could do.[]
Lily sighed deeply, looking both helpless and heartbroken.[
“Alright, let’s just enjoy the hotpot,” Eva quickly tried to distract her, scooting closer to comfort her.[]
The two of them ate the hotpot together, laughing and enjoying the meal []
Since Grandpa Foster’s passing, Eva hadn’t had a meal so satisfying.]

They even drank quite a bit.[]
After Eva had drunk too much, she leaned against Lily’s shoulder, curling up on the sofa.
“Eva, are you okay?” Lily felt the weight on her shoulder, tilted her head slightly, and softly spoke.[]
Her question was different from the loud conversations earlier; it carried a quiet, probing tone.
Since Grandpa Foster passed and since Sean came back, it seemed Lily hadn’t really asked her if she was okay.[]
Eva had been busy cleaning up the mess at the company, and it seemed she never had the time to stop and take a breath.[]
Lily could hear Eva letting out a heavy sigh on her shoulder, followed by the dete

“I knew it. You’re always acting tough. Didn’t I tell you, if you’re upset, you can talk to me? I can’t help you financially, but I can be here to talk to you.”
“No,” Eva shook her head again, then grabbed Lily’s arm tightly. “It’s not that. I don’t feel well. My stomach hurts suddenly.“]]
