Chapter 19 IOU
Sean quickly made the porridge and brought it to the dining table. When he glanced at Eva, who was sitting quietly on the sofa, he remarked, “You have quite a bit of stuff in your kitchen.“]
Eva turned her head to look at him, then got up and walked slowly over to the table.[]
“I used to have meals with my grandfather at home,” Eva answered honestly, looking down at the steaming bowl of porridge on the table, giving a bitter smile before thanking him.[]
“Now that your grandfather is gone, you still have to eat, right?” Sean smiled.[]
“Alone, I usually just order takeout,” Eva said, “My grandfather never let me cook. We always had someone come in to make meals. On good days, he’d cook for me himself.“]
“Besides, cooking for one person is kind of pointless. Sometimes, the time spent making it is longer than the time spent eating.“]
Eva said this, but she still sat down and pulled the bowl of porridge closer. After taking a sip, she looked up at Sean and said, “It tastes pretty good, thanks.“]
Sean also sat down across from her. “If it’s too much trouble, just say it’s too much trouble. I’ve been cooking for myself all this time.“[]
Eva raised her eyes and gave him a subtle glance, then shook her head with a soft smile. “I am lazy, I don’t want to move.‘
After saying that, Eva lowered her head and continued sipping the porridge, one spoonful at a time.
She had accepted everything now. Sean didn’t need to act like he was still loyal to their marriage despite leaving her.
Sean didn’t drink. He simply sat there, waiting for her to finish.
Once Eva put her bowl down, he slid the bank card across the table to her.
“Thirty million.“]
Eva looked up and stared directly at him.]
“D
“I’ll keep the property deed for now. You don’t need to worry about the IOU. I hope your grandfather’s company can be revived.”
Sean looked at her, paused for a moment, then spoke again, “I’m just temporarily staying here, and I don’t need you to sleep with me.“[]
“Ha ha,” Eva laughed awkwardly. “I just asked casually. You don’t like me, so sleeping together would only lower your standards. You’re doing me a huge favor right now, and I wouldn’t be rude enough to make things uncomfortable for you.“[]
Sean sighed helplessly, smiling faintly. “The things you say…”
Eva quietly looked at him, giving a polite smile. After a few seconds, she got up.
Although Sean said she didn’t need to write the IOU, she still felt the need to do it.]
She got some paper and a pen, then wrote the IOU, signing her name at the bottom.[]
When Eva handed the IOU to Sean, she also handed over the pen.[]
Chapter 19 1OU
Sean looked at the IOU, then smiled. “The format is quite standard. Looks like you’ve made progress in these three years.“]]
“I’ll go find some ink for the seal, you go ahead and sign,” Eva said as she walked away.
When she came back with the inkpad, Eva also brought a spare key set. She placed the keys in front of Sean and said, “There’s another set at Lily’s. If you mind, I’ll get it from her later.“[]
Sean looked at the keys, then raised his eyes to look at Eva. His mind echoed Lily’s words–if she hadn’t found her in time, Eva would have been gone.
“No need. Just leave a set with her,” Sean shook his head.[]
“It’s signed,” Sean said as he placed the keys in his pocket and handed the IOU back to Eva.[]
Eva looked down and saw that Sean had indeed signed the paper. However, he had crossed out the last part she had written, which stated that during this period, Sean could ask for a divorce at any time, and she would cooperate.[]
