Chapter 29 Investigation
“What do you mean? Are you planning to continue with her?” Nathan sat down on the office chair, raising an eyebrow at Sean.[]
Sean gave him a brief glance but didn’t respond to the question. Instead, he half–pursed his lips and lightly tapped the desk. “I came to you for a serious matter.“]]
“Oh?” Nathan leaned back, crossing his legs, his expression shifting to one of curiosity, clearly interested.[]
“I plan to get involved in Eva’s project, but I don’t know much about the people at her company.“[]
“Got it,” Nathan smiled, understanding the implication behind Sean’s words.]
Sean had just returned, and he was unfamiliar with the staff and structure of Eva’s company. Nathan had been in the business for a while and had some interactions with Eva’s grandfather when he was still alive. He probably knew more than Sean did.[]
Nathan sat up straight, then looked at Sean.[]
“Eva is also new to running the business. You know how much her grandfather spoiled her. He always kept her close and protected her.”
Nathan cast a quick glance at Sean as he spoke, and the implication was clear.
Eva’s grandfather had been so indulgent towards her that Sean should have experienced it firsthand, especially since her grandfather had forced him into marriage with her to make her happy.
“But her grandfather had been in business for so many years. Why did it all fall apart?” Sean still didn’t understand.[]
Eva’s grandfather should have been more perceptive in the business world than them, so how did things end up this way?[]
Nathan sighed, shaking his head. “I don’t know, but about two years ago, he started to act erratically in business.“]
Sean remained silent, not asking further.
Nathan looked at him and continued, “Their company is holding several projects, but they’re out of money. Eva probably doesn’t understand too much about it. Right now, it’s all on Michael Young to help her.“[]
“Michael Young?” Sean furrowed his brows, recalling that name. He remembered him from their wedding; he was someone close to Eva’s grandfather and had always been like family.]
Eva’s grandfather had grown old and his health had deteriorated. Perhaps he had become senile, but Michael Young was still in his prime. Why didn’t he stop the old man from making foolish decisions?]
“Check into the people at their company. Look into anyone who could be influential,” Sean said, pursing his lips and staying silent for a moment before continuing, “Especially Michael Young.”
Michael Young? You don’t trust him?” Nathan asked, confused. “I heard that after Eva’s grandfather passed, he was the one who helped her. He even put all his money into helping her pay off debts.“]
“Just check,” Sean said, lowering his gaze, and absentmindedly turned the ring on his finger.[]
“Got it,” Nathan nodded without hesitation.[]
“You take care of it, and let me know when you have results. I’m leaving now,” Sean nodded and stood up decisively.[]
Chapter 29 Investigation
“Leaving already?” Nathan got up too, a bit dissatisfied.[]
“Why not?” Sean shrugged with a smile. He had come for this specific matter.[]
Nathan sighed, his expression becoming more serious. “As a friend, I must remind you that the Foster family is a bottomless pit. If Eva is willing to divorce you, then you should leave quickly. Don’t get involved.“[]
As Nathan spoke, his gaze shifted to the ring on Sean’s finger, and he sighed again. “So what are you thinking? Are you planning to continue with her?”
Nathan couldn’t quite understand what Sean was thinking right now.[]
If the drinking culture at business dinners was a problem, or if he wanted to make his marital status known to avoid trouble, he could easily marry someone else and get rid of Eva.[]
“Leaving now,” Sean smiled and didn’t respond to Nathan’s question. He simply waved and left the office.]]
