“I’m so happy for you guys. Yes, I’ll be your maid of honor,” Mallory said, hugging her.
“Aleck is the best man. Don’t worry, Andrew, I have someone else that will be in the bridal party.”
“Hey, I’m not worried about anything,” he said, drinking his beer.
“Great, you ladies can discuss wedding stuff later. We have reservations for eight thirty. Have you decided on a date for the wedding?” Aleck
asked her.
“Umm, actually yes,” she said, smiling.
“Okay then, whenever you’re ready, just say the word,” I said, squeezing her hips.
“We’ll let you kids have some time. I’m going to take a short nap before we head out,” Mom said, standing up.
After Mom and Dad left, Mallory looked at us. “I believe my mom lied to me.”
“Why do you think so?” I asked her.
“Well, Lexi and Tina moved back home because, for some reason, they can’t seem to keep a job for more than one month. Apparently, Gregory, my stepfather, has been out of a job for a while now and has been using my mom’s savings. I overheard their conversation. Lexi and Tina were asking him about money, and he told them to wait until my mom is better,” she said, sitting down.
“The last time I spoke with my mom, she said everything was okay and that Gregory was at work. She didn’t say that Tina and Lexi had moved back home. “We’ll find out, Mal,” I said, standing up and heading into the office. Once there, I called Mac and Brian.

MAC: Yes, Boss?
DEAN: Gregory Thompson, Lexi, and Tina Thompson. These are Mallory’s stepfather and stepsisters. Yesterday, Mallory’s mother fell down some stairs, and that’s the story Mallory was told. I want you to find out what is happening in that house with her mother. Hack whatever you need to hack to find out. I want you to find out if he is hurting her.
