Among the young engaged men, Lorenzo and Henry were the most taken aback.
“Lorenzo, are you serious?” Henry asked, his expression stern.
“Is this because I gave the Tears of the Ocean to my sister instead of you? Are you making a scene today just to spite me?”
Henry, too, appeared indignant. “Hillary, why did you choose Noel?” he questioned.
“If you wanted to get back at Lorenzo, you could have picked me. I’d willingly let you use me!”
His genuine affection struck a chord with those present.
“Henry truly loves Hillary deeply. I heard he even jumped from a building
for her.”
“Why didn’t Hillary choose him? If a man loved me like that, I’d marry him without a second thought!”
“Everyone in New York knows it. Henry is head over heels for Hillary, yet she’s never even given him a second look…”
Everyone in the room felt outraged on Henry’s behalf.
They sympathized with him for his unrequited love–loving someone who didn’t feel the same.
As the crowd sighed with regret, Hillary couldn’t suppress a smile. She turned to Henry, who was gazing at her with infatuation, and asked,

“Henry, do you really love me that much?”
“Absolutely,” Henry responded without a moment’s pause.
“Hillary, I love you. I would do anything for you, even lay down my life!”
Hillary continued to smile. “You love me that much? Then why did I hear you jumped off that building just to scare me away?”
Henry’s face turned pale. “…W–who told you that?
“Was it Timmy? Hillary, don’t believe his lies. He’s just spreading rumors.
“I swear I never said that. I truly love you–no one in this world loves you. more than I do!”
Henry was quite the performer. For a fleeting moment, Hillary almost fell for his act.
But it was too late for that. Hillary had already heard what he truly thought, so no matter how convincing his act, it was futile.
Unwilling to waste her breath on Henry, Hillary simply took out a voice recorder and pressed play.
“That fool Hillary has to think I’m madly in love with her, right? The reality is, when I jumped off that building, it wasn’t to declare my love–it was to scare her off…”
Henry’s mocking voice filled the room from the recorder, and everyone was stunned into silence!
Henry’s face turned ghostly pale.
“No one’s spreading rumors, Henry,” Hillary said with composure. “These are your own words.

“So stop pretending to be deeply in love with me. It’s revolting.”
“Hillary, you’ve got it wrong…” Henry’s eyes quietly welled up. “Actually, I…”
Before Noel could finish his sentence, he abruptly stepped forward and delivered a forceful punch to Henry.
“No one can insult my fiancée in front of me,” Noel declared with authority. “I love Hillary more than anyone else in the world!”
The mention of “fiancée” made Lorenzo’s handsome brows knit together.
“Hillary, stop playing games,” Lorenzo said. “Aren’t I the one you truly want to marry?
“I’m prepared to marry you and cherish you forever, just as Mr. Sutton Senior wishes–putting you above everyone else except myself.
“So let’s end this charade. The Clarke family is a business partner of the Sutton family, and my father and Mr. Sutton Senior have been close friends for years. Playing with Noel like this could harm the relationship, between our families.”
