Chapter 5
“Are you alright?” he asked stiffly.
How ridiculous! That slap on my face was his doing. The burn on my wrist was Caela’s doing. She was intentional, no doubt. And now Kael wanted to pretend to care?
His fake concern made me sick.
I shook his hand off and swept all my scattered belongings straight into the trash.
He opened his mouth like he wanted to say something, but in the end, he just turned and left. “You were too impulsive today,” he muttered as he walked away.
After cleaning up the mess, I went to the werewolf guards and asked to review the pack hall’s crystal recordings. There was no way I would let this false accusation go unchallenged.
But as soon as I made the request, the guards blocked my path.
“Only official pack members are allowed to access the recordings,” one of them said.
In that instant, I understood.
This was Kael’s doing.
Only he had the authority to issue such an order and wipe the footage so quickly.
He had chosen his side. In his mind, I was already guilty of stealing that necklace.
Back at the pack house where I had lived for six years, I gathered every last belonging and packed it up.
Along with those boxes, I tossed out my feelings for Kael like garbage–neatly, thoroughly, and with no hesitation.
That evening, Gamma showed up again, this time bringing a small pouch of magical ointment for treating burns.
I tossed it on the table without a word. Before I left, I took one final look around the now–empty house.
The next day, I booked a flight back to Argent Crest Pack and officially erased all my personal data from the Elders‘ registry.
On the third day, I dragged my suitcase into the airport. Right before boarding, I finally messaged Kael’s work account–the one he hadn’t blocked yet.
We’re done.
Then I deleted every way he could ever contact me again.
When the plane touched down, my parents were already waiting at the airport to pick me up..
My mom gripped my hand, her eyes full of concern. “My poor daughter… You’ve been away from Argent Crest Pack all this time, suffering out there. You’ve lost so much weight!”
My father patted me on the shoulder. “You’re home now. That’s what matters.”
Beside them stood a tall Alpha with broad shoulders and a trim waist, dressed in a sharp three–piece suit.
He appeared slightly older than me, every inch the gentleman in his crisp suit. His deep, knowing eyes held a quiet warmth as they lingered on me, a hint of amusement playing at their corners.
Under that gaze, my face flushed uncontrollably. I already knew who he was.
My parents quickly made the introduction.
“Nevara, this is Tiber Solgrave.”
I reached out my hand, and he offered his in return, gently grasping my fingertips. Chapter 5

“My mate,” Tiber said softly, his warm eyes crinkling. “Welcome home.”
My face instantly turned scarlet. My parents grinned and nudged me toward him.
Tiber took the handle of my suitcase and immediately noticed the burn on my wrist.
“What happened here?” he asked.
I didn’t want to bring up the humiliating ordeal in Nightveil Pack, so I said I’d burned myself by accident.
His gaze flickered, but he said nothing more. Instead, he reached out and gently stroked my head.
“From now on, you’re my mate. You’ll have to get used to me taking care of you.”
“Alright,” I mumbled softly. His gentleness was overwhelming–it caught me completely off guard.
After bringing me home, the very first thing Tiber did was open a medical kit, drain the blister, treat the wound, and apply a soothing salve with great care.
Though I wasn’t used to entering a new relationship so soon after ending the last one, Tiber simply said that he was willing to wait–as long as I chose him in the end.
After he left, I still hadn’t figured out how to explain everything to him. But my parents had already noticed that something was weighing on my heart.
