Chapter 12
“You are my wife. I told you before when I married you that you will always be mine in this lifetime. I can give you three days to calm down. If you don’t come back after three days, no matter where you go, I will find you and bring you back!”
He procrastinated in self–deception.
Maybe Stephanie was just confused for a moment and impulsively filed for divorce?
From college to now, she has never experienced a day of hardship.
When she encountered setbacks outside, when she missed him, she would definitely come back obediently.
Edgar tried to convince himself to lie down and rest in bed.
However, the seat next to him was empty, just missing one person, but he felt particularly uncomfortable.
There was no longer a scent that belonged solely to Stephanie around him, and he found it difficult to fall asleep.
He closed his eyes, and throughout the whole night, countless images of Stephanie snuggling into his arms and falling asleep flashed through his mind.
He opened his eyes in a daze, feeling a sense of emptiness in his arms, and he was somewhat bewildered.
For three days in a row, Edgar didn’t go anywhere, just stayed at home in silence waiting for someone who didn’t come back.

Even Amelia’s invitation, he ignored, only casually replying with a few words, “Wait a bit, I’m busy these days, I’ll go see her in a few days.”
Sherlyn saw that he hardly slept and barely ate, so she couldn’t help but speak up:
“Mr. Ferguson, you always look like this and your body can’t bear it. If Mrs. Ferguson sees you like this, she will definitely feel sorry for you.”
“Now that Mrs. Ferguson is not coming back, why don’t you go look for her? Girls are easily persuaded, maybe if you sincerely coax her, she will forgive you and come back to remarry you.”
“Mrs. Ferguson has always been soft–hearted, it’s just that she can be a bit intolerant at times, especially since that Amelia doesn’t seem like a good girl either.”
At this point, Sherlyn hesitated, as if wanting to say something but holding back.
Edgar looked at her coldly, his sharp eyes narrowing slightly.
“Are
you being bribed by Stephanie to intentionally speak well of her and speak ill of Amelia, in order to make me drive Amelia away, so that Stephanie can get what she wants?”
“I knew it! Stephanie is capable of doing anything to force me to send Amelia away! Now, getting a divorce is just another one of her tactics, right?”
“Sherlyn, remember, you were the elder of the Ferguson family, you should listen to me, not Stephanie!”
Upon hearing these words, Sherlyn was somewhat infuriated.
She didn’t expect that her kindness would be taken for granted by Edgar as donkey’s liver and lungs!

She couldn’t bear it anymore and spoke out for Stephanie: “Mr. Ferguson, even if you are going to fire me today, I have to say this!”
“I did not lie, nor was I bribed by Mrs. Ferguson. Over ten days ago, Amelia came to my house and deliberately provoked Mrs. Ferguson, saying that in the future all projects with Mrs. Ferguson would be hers, and that Mrs. Ferguson would have to do research for her in the future.”
“Just that alone would have been fine, Mrs. Ferguson didn’t say anything, and when Amelia saw you, she pretended to cry and said Mrs. Ferguson was going to kick her out! If it weren’t for something happening at my house that day and needing to rush back to deal with it, I would have exposed her true colors long ago!”
“If you don’t believe me, you can go check the surveillance footage. I have been working for the Ferguson family for so many years, there is no need for me to lie.”
With that, Sherlyn pointed to the monitor on the side, her chest heaving with anger.
Edgar coldly stared at her, repeatedly confirming whether she was lying.
A sense of unease gradually emerged in my heart, as if something unpredictable was about to happen.
After a long silence, he still had the surveillance footage pulled up.
The surveillance footage from that day clearly showed the sequence of events, confirming Sherlyn’s account to be true.
Amelia was not as innocent and naive as he had imagined.
Edgar, with a serious expression on his face, watched the surveillance footage over and over again.
