Chapter 17
Unfortunately, Edgar had long been thoroughly disappointed in her and would not have any soft spot for her again.
Just the thought of how he used to be so blind and fall for a woman like her in the past, only to be played around in circles, made him feel absolutely disgusted.
He waved his hand, signaling the bodyguard to take Amelia away.
Amelia was completely desperate and, at the last moment when she was dragged into the basement, she asked him a question.
“Edgar, did you really love me? You used to say you loved me, but if was true love, shouldn’t you have accepted all my flaws?”
“I have loved before, Edgar said quietly, with a hint of sadness in his
voice.”
“However, I couldn’t tolerate any flaws and didn’t love you enough. I couldn’t accept all your shortcomings. Because from the beginning, I never fully understood who you are. I only loved the side of you that you showed me.”
After speaking from the heart, he couldn’t help but let his thoughts drift far away.
He used to be so good to Amelia, and he truly thought about being with her.
If Amelia was innocent, maybe the surprise he prepared for her today would really be a proposal, and he would really marry her.
However, unfortunately, there were no “ifs“.

In fact, even if Edgar married Amelia, he could not completely let go of Stephanie.
His feelings for Stephanie had long been etched into his very being, becoming a habit.
The deep feelings from the past can never be erased.
Upon hearing Edgar’s words, Amelia laughed self–deprecatingly.
She had reached a point where she could not turn back, he did not love her enough, and she was not the right one for him.
She did all this just for money, for status. She could continue pretending for the rest of her life, but he would never believe her again.
She was finished, everything was finished.
A crystal clear tear rolled down and disappeared into the ground.
Amelia allowed herself to be dragged into the basement, where she was punched and kicked by numerous bodyguards.
The dense punches fell on her like raindrops, smashing her internal organs out of place.
With a few clicks, the clear sound of bones breaking could be heard, accompanied by a sharp pain.
Her face was as white as paper, her whole body soaked in cold sweat, as if she had been pulled out of the water.
However, the bodyguard would only obey Edgar’s orders and would not have an ounce of mercy towards her.
As long as there was a doctor present, the broken bone could be reconnected after it was broken. As long as you didn’t die, everything would be fine.

After countless days and nights passed, Amelia’s old wounds healed only to be replaced by new ones, over and over again. Eventually, she became completely numb and hopeless.
Suddenly, the door of the basement opened again, and Edgar walked calmly towards Amelia, looking at her with cold eyes, covered in bruises.
“Amelia, the punishment is temporarily over, you are free now.”
His words were like celestial music, but Amelia was stunned for a long time, finding it extremely unbelievable.
“Are you. Are you really willing to let me go? Are you really going to let
me go?”
Her voice was hoarse and unpleasant, clearly having experienced too
much abuse and torment.
Edgar nodded without changing his expression.
“Well, you can go now. But it doesn’t mean I’m letting you off the hook.”
He didn’t say the rest of the sentence, just waiting to see what would happen to Amelia.
How could mere physical punishment be enough? She also took Stephanie’s things, of course they must all be returned one by one.
Amelia didn’t think too much, now she just doesn’t care about anything as long as she can go out.
She ran out, crawling and rolling, breathing in the taste of freedom.
The villa gate was not locked, as usual, it was wide open.
Amelia didn’t dare to let Edgar take her home, so she walked down the mountain alone for a long way and took a taxi home.

However, she did not notice that Edgar’s car had been following her from a distance.
After returning to school, Amelia ran to the dormitory while covering her face.
As soon as her classmates noticed her along the way, they all looked at her with disdainful eyes and started gossiping.
She didn’t think too much, only thought that it was because her current appearance was too unkempt that she was being criticized.
It doesn’t matter, anyway, after she cleaned up, they might not be able to recognize her.
However, it wasn’t until she returned to the dormitory and saw a group of classmates staring at her with disdain and disgust.
