Chapter 9
The plane gradually took off, moving away from the ground, and the vast New York finally shrank into a small dot.
Stephanie took a deep breath, slowly withdrew her gaze, and forced a relaxed smile.
From then on, Edgar would have no more relationship with her. She was going to start a whole new life.
For the rest of his life, even if he wanted to spend it with Amelia forever, she didn’t care.
She closed her eyes, no longer looking at the scenery outside the window, quietly enjoying the freedom.
However, at the same time, Edgar was indulgently accompanying Amelia shopping.
Whenever Amelia glanced at something, he generously bought it for her.
Looking at those luxury handbags and jewelry in her purse, Amelia’s smile deepened in her eyes, but she pretended to be conflicted.
“Mr. Ferguson, I accepted these, Ms. Sanchez won’t be angry, will she?”
“She never liked me. Today is your wedding anniversary, and you are here with me. She must be in a bad mood. Will she blame me for taking you away if you give me so many gifts?”
She lowered her head
in embarrassment, biting her lip with her teeth.
“Maybe I should just leave. Once I’m gone, she shouldn’t be angry anymore. You guys take care and have a good life. I don’t want to be

bullied by her anymore.”

Before the words had even finished, Amelia put down the luxury bags, wiped away her tears, and turned to leave.
Edgar held her tightly, his voice tense: “Amelia, don’t go!”
“I have said it before, as long as I am here, Stephanie will never bully you again. If she dares to hurt you again, I will not let her off. Please don’t leave my side, okay? I can’t be without you.”
In the corner where he couldn’t see, Amelia smirked, her eyes filled with
satisfaction.
Apart from the slightly red eyes from rubbing, there was absolutely no trace of having cried.
She covered her face, pretended to sob a few times, and looked back at Edgar with red eyes.
“Mr. Ferguson, I’m glad you’re here. I believe you will protect me.”
“However, I don’t know when Ms. Sanchez will give up bullying me. If she continues like this, I will also get tired.”
“She was your wife, and you were just pursuing me. I knew I would be the one left behind. If you don’t plan on having a future with me, can you please stop bothering me?”
“I was afraid of losing my heart to you and losing everything, so it would have been better if we had never started in the first place.”
Edgar felt a little heartache when he saw the watery gleam in Amelia’s
eyes.
He furrowed his brow in thought for a moment, then gently ran his fingers through her hair and soothed her with a soft voice:

“I will find a way to make her give up on you. We will have a future, I promise.”
Once again, it was this vague promise that Amelia mocked in her heart, and she gritted her teeth in frustration.
He kept saying that he loved her and cared about her, but he was unwilling to divorce Stephanie and marry her. Is this the love he talked
about?
She didn’t want to be just a canary or a mistress for the rest of her life, she didn’t want to constantly please just to get the little bit of kindness that slipped through his fingers.
She wanted to be his legitimate wife!
Since he couldn’t make up his mind, she decided to help him!
Amelia had a rough plan in mind. While having dinner with Edgar at a romantic restaurant, she excused herself midway and returned with a small packet of powder in her hand.
However, Edgar, sitting across from me, hung his head and stared at the glaring red exclamation mark on his phone, his face gradually darkening.
So much so that she didn’t even notice what Amelia was up to.
Stephanie’s attempts to contact him failed, not only through WhatsApp, but also through text messages, phone calls, and everything else – she had blocked him completely.
What trick was she playing after all?
Just because he didn’t spend their wedding anniversary with her, didn’t see the so–called surprise she had prepared?
We have been married for so many years, is it necessary to get jealous and throw a tantrum over this matter again? It’s not like I haven’t spent time

with her before, it’s just that I missed this one time.
Edgar exuded a terrifyingly cold demeanor as he calmly called the maid at home.
“Sherlyn, is Stephanie at home? Give her the phone, I have something to tell her.”
