Before getting here, Dewey thought Millard wanted to see how miserable Rosella was, but now that they were here, Millard just stayed in the car quietly. The cigarette was about to burn his finger but he remained insensible.
This time, Dewey couldn’t figure out what Millard was thinking.
Rosella was dragging two huge suitcases to a car. Thin and weak as she was, she still managed to place the suitcases in the trunk.
At the same time, Gladys was sitting in the car with composure. Without asking the driver to do Rosella a favor, she just left everything to Rosella.
Rosella had to put all the things in the car. Then, instead of getting into the car, she hurriedly ran away with a nod after Gladys said something to her.
When Rosella was back, she was holding a coffee. However, the next second, the coffee was splashed over her face.
Elliot was awakened from his sleep. He darted a casual glance only to be shocked by Rosella’s miserable look. “What happened?”
He was about to pass some tissue to her when he was stopped.
“Elliot, she knows I’m on my period, but she still bought me an iced coffee. This must be her deliberate act.”
Rosella wiped the coffee stain on her collars in case Mollie found out about this. She didn’t go mad or shed tears.

Previously, to make money, she was splashed over with hot soup. An iced coffee wouldn’t matter.
“Sorry. I’ll get you a new one.” Rosella was leaving but was stopped by Elliot.
These days, Rosella had been extremely obedient, doing even a better job than the former assistant. She never complained when given a hard time. Elliot felt somewhat embarrassed. “No need.”
Then, he grabbed a coat. “Put it on and go home yourself.”
Gladys sat up. “Elliot.”
Elliot looked grim and threw the coat to Rosella. “I just don’t want Mollie to know about this. Take it.”
After he said that, the car ran away.
Everything was witnessed by Dewey and Millard. Dewey mumbled, “I knew it. She’s good at sadfishing.”
Millard lit up another cigarette. Suddenly, he got out of the car and walked over.
Shocked by the cold, Rosella raised her eyes only to meet Millard’s stern face.
Rosella trembled out of the cold. “Mr. Dunn.”
Millard just raised his arm and meant to press his cigarette against Rosella’s arm. When the heat approached her, Rosella still didn’t step back.
“Are you a fool? Why don’t you dodge it?” Millard withdrew his cigarette and trampled on it. “Why didn’t you dodge when you were splashed with coffee and fed with rubbish?”

Rosella was close to being burned. However, actually, she had already had the scalded scars on her body.
She didn’t answer his question. She just didn’t want to get into any conflict. All she wanted was to stay. When she was arrogant, Millard hated her. Now that she acted humble and meek, he still despised her.
Good thing that she wouldn’t be sad or cry for Millard anymore.
“Speak up,” Millard snapped.
An abrupt car horn interrupted them.
Millard and Rosella looked in the direction where the sound came from. A car stopped by the roadside. As the window was rolled down, Lamont’s stern face was shown.
“Mollie told me you had changed a lot. Why can’t I see that?”
It was dimly lit in the study, just like an abyss. Sitting in there, Lamont seemed like a cold judge.
Rosella’s hair drooped by her cheeks and her chin was thin. Her bright eyes also had been dim after all the suffering over the past few years.
Lamont suddenly felt out of breath.
Anyhow, he had raised Rosella for years. He used to see her as the apple of his eye.
“Do you blame us?”
“No.”
“Have you thought it through? Will you do those stupid things again?” Before Rosella gave her reply, Lamont continued, “We won’t be able to cover you up if you do it again.”

No longer naive and lively, Rosella became taciturn. “Got it.”
Lamont heaved a long sigh. “Then why are you holding onto Millard? You haven’t given up yet?”
