Chapter 4
The slap left Bailey’s ear ringing with pain
She watched as Alexander helped Stella up and comforted the crying child. The three of them looked like the perfect, loving family
While, she–heavily pregnant–was cast as the villain trying to destroy their happiness
“Don’t cry, Evan. Daddy won’t let anything happen to you,” Alexander promised
Then he grabbed Bailey by the hair, forcing her to bow to the child
“Apologize to him!” he demanded.
Bailey felt sharp pain radiating from her scalp, but she remained defiantly silent.
Alexander sneered: “No remorse? Fine, you’ll regret it.“[]
He dragged her out of the room by her hair
In the final moment before leaving, she caught Stella’s triumphant smile from beside the bed [
Afterward. Bailey was completely confined to a VIP hospital room]
The doctor said they were waiting for Evan’s body to be ready for surgery before performing her C–section]
During this time. Alexander visited only once. With cold indifference, he informed her of the surgery date: “The procedure is scheduled for three days from now. Don’t make any more trouble, or else…“]]
He approached her step by step, his gaze cruel: “Your parents are back home now, Bailey. You wouldn’t want them, at their age, to suffer violence because of you.”
Clearly, the countdown bomb had been just a warning. If she continued to disobey, he had more severe punishments waiting.
Bailey had never felt so helpless.
On one side were her parents, on the other, her unborn child.]
While she, caught in the middle, was nothing but a sacrificial lamb.
Only now did she realize how worthless her self–respect, her love, and her marriage truly were.
She knelt before Alexander, looking up at the man who had once cherished and protected her:
“Alexander, Evan’s condition isn’t that serious. He… he could probably wait a little longer.”
“Please, just three more months… no, two months.”
She clutched his hand, her face streaming with tears
Alexander’s eyes flickered with pity. He crouched down and gently wiped away her tears:[]
“Bailey, Evan is already five years old. He’s my child, and I have a responsibility to him.”
“Your baby hasn’t even been born yet, so it can’t really be considered a life. Think of it as if you just had a miscarriage. We’ll have more children, okay?”
Dalley couldn’t believe what she was hearing
Her unborn cluld wasn’t even considered a life in his eyes?
Bailey cried herself to sleep in the hospital room well past midnight]
In her nightmare, she saw herself being pushed onto an operating table, a cold surgical knife slicing open her belly to remove her still developing baby while Alexander stood watching from the sidelines with cold indifference
The terror from her dream nearly tore her apart. When she woke, Bailey’s face was already wet with tears
After calining herself, she glanced out the window and made a desperate decision. She tore the bedsheets into a long rope and lowered it from the fourth floor window.
The night wind whipped around her as she slowly climbed down
Just as she reached the third floor, a beam of light suddenly illuminated her face
“Who’s there?” a voice called out.
The guard flashed his light again, recognized who she was, and immediately reported through his walkie–talkie
Moments later. Alexander appeared at the window above]
Bailey’s heart nearly jumped out of her throat. Hanging suspended in mid air, she pleaded tearfully, “Alexander! Please, spare us.“]
The man’s eyes crinkled with a smile, but his voice was ice–cold
“Hailey, why can’t you just behave?”
With one hand, he untied the makeshift rope from the fourth floor, looking down at her with detached fascination, observing the fear building in her eyes]
“I told you there would be consequences for disobedience…“]]
With those words, he let go.
Bailey’s heavy body instantly plummeted downward
THUD
She hit the ground hard, pain surging through her body as a pool of dark blood began spreading beneath her.]]
Then she heard Alexander’s command from above:
“Get a doctor. I Prepare for surgery.”
