Chapter 10
Harvey and Liam spoke at the same time, practically in unison.
I looked at them and gave a cold, mocking smile before turning my gaze toward Emily.
“Well then, why don’t we let your so–called savior explain? Since she’s the one yo
you owe your lives to, I’m sure she can tell the truth.”
Emily and Jeff began trembling the moment I looked their way, practically trying to bury their heads in the floor.
Seeing their silence, Mike clapped his hands from the sidelines.
“Bring two bottles–wolfsbane mixed with acid. If they won’t talk, we’ll pour it straight down their throats.”
Emily’s eyes widened in terror as the deadly vials were brought closer. She looked like she was about to pass out on the spot.
She cracked–shouting everything in a trembling, frantic mess.
“I did it! I’m sorry! I’m so sorry! It was all me!”
“It wasn’t me who saved you during the landslide–it was Lynette and Walter!”
“They never abandoned you! They dug you out and even paid me $20,000 to get help from my Alpha!”
“I lied! I lied because I got greedy! I wanted more money, more benefits, so I pretended I was the one who saved you!”
Emily broke down, sobbing uncontrollably. “And that old man… Alpha Frank…”
“I was afraid that if he recovered, he’d block Harvey from taking over the Bloodmoon Pack!”
“So I bribed a nurse at the care center and had them show him the livestream from the press conference!”
“He went into shock the moment he saw it and died the next day! All those surveillance videos you saw after that were fake! That nurse
doctored them on my orders!”
“I’m sorry! I really am! Please forgive me! Don’t kill me!”
The moment the truth came out, Harvey and Liam finally looked truly remorseful.
They dropped to their knees, crawling toward me, mumbling apologies and swearing they’d been deceived, pleading their undying love.
I raised my hand and motioned for the guards to stop them. Then I looked down, face blank, voice flat.
“Enough. Don’t waste your breath.”
“You’re not stupid. I know that much. No one could deceive you unless you let them.”
“You believed Emily saved you because deep down, you’ve always thought Walter and I looked down on you–just a pair of spoiled rich kids who never saw you as equals.”
“You didn’t help her brother out of gratitude. You just wanted to see me fall apart.”
“You wanted me desperate, dependent on you for everything. Trapped in your world, with no way out.”
