Harvey and Liam twisted the truth beyond recognition, painting Walter as a crazed Alpha who attempted rape but failed, and then committed a crime of passion. 

Meanwhile, Emily’s sleazy little brother was celebrated as a heroic Omega who took down a predator.

Sometimes I’d find blood–stained envelopes tucked behind my door. There was even talk online of livestreaming the castration of Walter’s corpse. 

Reading those threats and watching everything unravel nearly made me collapse. 

Harvey and Liam were both orphans taken in by my parents and raised in our pack. 

All these years, they showed me only their softest sides, made me believe they were loyal and kind. 

I nearly forgot how they clawed their way up through the Bloodmoon Pack’s ranks to get where they are today. 

How could they truly be as gentle and good as they seemed? 

All their pampering turned me into a pretty little thing with no claws–useless when it mattered. 

“Have you learned your lesson this time?” 

Harvey’s voice was still as smooth and magnetic as ever. 

But hearing it suddenly behind me now made my skin crawl. 

I turned around slowly, my gaze hollow and bitter. “After everything, what more do you want?” 

“Nolan’s already made the arrangements. Tomorrow, we’ll hold a public press conference with the werewolf police.” 

“You, as Walter’s next of kin, will apologize to the victim’s family and offer compensation.” 

“You will also formally apologize to Emily and Jeff. You’ll drop all charges and claims.” 

He stepped toward me without warning and reached out to wipe a tear from my cheek. 

“Of course, you can still choose to refuse.” 

“But remember… you’re not Walter’s only living direct relative.” 

Then he pulled out his phone and tapped on a video feed from a nursing home. 

My grandfather appeared on the screen. 

Ever since my parents died, his health had declined rapidly. 

Now, he was barely surviving, a respirator keeping him alive. 

But even then, his trembling hands clutched a delicate music box, mumbling that it was a birthday gift for me. 

The tears came uncontrollably.
