Chapter 9
Mike’s castle had the best healer team in the entire Lycan territory. They treated every wound on my body.
Mike even spent a fortune to run forensic tests on the urns–separating my parents‘ and grandfather’s ashes, which had been mixed up during the chaos. He gave each of them a proper burial.
Then, with the help of his Beta, he moved my offshore assets back into the crumbling Bloodmoon Pack, stabilizing the members and bringing the pack back to life.
After everything was settled, Mike came to find me. He ruffled my hair with a smile.
“My little princess, now it’s time to make those who went too far… pay.”
I nodded, but honestly, I hadn’t really thought much about what Mike meant by ‘payback.‘
In my heart, Harvey and Liam were already part of a past I no longer cared about.
I didn’t need to waste another second of my life on them,
But three days later, Mike brought me to an abandoned warehouse.
A ring of enforcers stood around four people–three men, one woman.
It wasn’t until I stepped closer that I saw who they were.
Harvey. Liam. Emily. And Emily’s worthless brother, Jett.
Even blindfolded, Liam, a chief, still carried that arrogant, self–righteous aura
“I’m the Chief Inspector of the werewolf police. If you dare cross the line with us, you know the rules here–you won’t like the consequences! The Alpha King will make sure you pay dearly!”
Harvey kept his cool too, as if nothing was out of his control. “Listen, everyone. I’m an Alpha, and also a licensed werewolf attorney. If there’s been any misunderstanding, please talk to me I can help resolve it through legal channels.”
Mike clapped his hands, and someone stepped forward to remove their blindfolds
Then he turned to me and said, with eerie calm, “Princess, all the people involved are here now. However you want to deal with them— it’s your call.”
I looked at the four of them, kneeling on the ground like the worms they were. But I didn’t feel the satisfaction I thought I would.
Only disgust. Pure, bone–deep disgust.
The moment their blindfolds came off, I saw their faces change.
Harvey looked at me with that familiar calm and unreadable gaze.
“Lynette… where the hell have you been all this time? You have no idea how worried Nolan and I were!”
“Okay, enough with the drama. Have them untie us and let’s go home.”
“We’ll hold a grand rebonding ceremony right away, and we’ll be together, raising a whole pack of little wolf pups.”
Liam chimed in with a cocky grin, just like he did when we were kids.
“Alright, alright, Lynette. You’ve thrown enough of a tantrum, haven’t you? I don’t care how much money you spent to hire these people–this stunt helps no one.”
Harvey saw that my expression didn’t budge. I didn’t so much as blink, let alone move to untie them.
So he softened his tone and tried again. “Lynette, I get it… we were too harsh. We went too far.”
“But back then–during the Mistwood Pack landslide–Emily did save our lives. We couldn’t just walk away from a life debt.”

The moment he said “life debt,” something in my face shifted. But it wasn’t sadness. It was ice.
“A life debt?”
“You mean to tell me that because of one so–called life debt, you had the right to smear my brother’s name?”
“Because of a ‘life debt,‘ you were allowed to kill my grandfather?”
“Because of that same life debt, you could toss my parents‘ ashes out like garbage?”
“I’m really curious–what kind of damn life debt is worth that much?”
“Lynette, what are you saying? I didn’t get it.”
“What do you mean we killed Alpha Frank? He’s fine! I just saw the latest footage from the nursing home–he was still resting, healthy as ever!”
