Chapter 11
I looked at him.
“All of this–it’s all because I held on and grew up on my own.”
“Three years ago, I had just graduated from the werewolf medical academy, I was still an ignorant little girl.”
“When I first started working, everything felt wrong. I saw hundreds, even thousands, of people die in front of me every day, and I had to keep my emotions in check to save the others. I would break down and cry every day, but I kept going. I thought, if I could just hold on for three years, I could go back to the pack.”
“But when I returned to the pack, I saw you with someone else, and you even ordered the beta to make sure I couldn’t come back.”
When I finished speaking, he stood there frozen, a look of surprise in his eyes.
“L. I was wrong.”
“At first, I thought you were so much younger than me, that we weren’t suited for each other. So 1 forced myself to be with someone else. But after being with her, I realized that the one I loved was actually you. I couldn’t stop myself from loving you.
“Harper, come back with me. Don’t stay here. It’s too dangerous.”
I laughed coldly. “Now you say it’s dangerous? Where was this concern before?”
“Sebastian, the biggest regret of my life was falling in love with you.”
“But it’s okay. I don’t like you anymore. I have a better man by my side now. We’ve already sealed the mate bond.”
“What did you say?”
His face was filled with shock.
“How could you be thinking about a relationship here? You must be lying to me.”
“He’s my comrade, and the man I deeply love. He helps guide me forward. He’s the one who can give me peace in this battlefield.” “Sebastian, go. I really don’t love you anymore.”
His eyes immediately reddened, and he shook his head desperately.
“It’s impossible. It can’t be…”
I walked away.
Every second here was precious, and I didn’t want to waste any more time on him.
The next day, Maddox and I had a meeting because we needed to relocate.
He had dirt marks on his face, and I smiled as I wiped them off.
“You look like a raccoon.”
Just as I said that, Sebastian suddenly walked out of a tent, his face full of sorrow.
“Harper, didn’t you used to like me so much?”
Maddox recognized him and immediately pulled me into his arms.
“Alpha Sebastian, Harper is my mate
“You don’t deserve her!” Sebastian snapped back.
“Harper is mine. She’s
liked me since she was a teenager.”
“We even promised to seal the mate bond.”

“Then did you seal the mate bond with her?” Maddox’s question left Sebastian in stunned silence.
He continued, “The one who doesn’t deserve Harper is you. You couldn’t even be sure who you truly love. You’re a jerk.”
“Now, Harper no longer belongs to you.”
I looked at Sebastian and smiled. “Sebastian, go back. We’re done, for good.”
“No, we never even started, so
not really over.

“All I can say is, stop pursuing me. I don’t like you. The only man I like is Maddox.
I had loved Sebastian for ten years.
If I hadn’t become a healer, I might have been stuck in my own head, obsessed with love for the rest of my life.
I was grateful for the strength 1 had found to move on, and oddly, I was also thankful that he had lied to me.
Three years later, Maddox and I left the Northern Border.
Over these three years, we had saved countless lives.
had both gotten injured many times. Another round of shellfire exploded near him, and he almost didn’t make it.
