Chapter 17
The child looked at Eileen seriously, paused for a while, and said word by word, “Mom, I don’t want dad, I don’t have a dad. Even though other kids have dads and moms, I have mom and that’s enough for me. I don’t need a dad.”
The child spoke so seriously, causing a pang in Eileen’s heart.
The poor child, born, was sent to an orphanage.
A person stumbled and grew to be four years old, finally meeting their biological mother.
Now, why did this scumbag have to come out and disturb their mother and son’s life again?
At the thought of this, anger had already filled Eileen’s eyes.
She turned her head and glared at Julius through gritted teeth, “Did you hear that? Gideon said he doesn’t need a father, and I don’t need a husband either. I am capable of raising our child on my own, so I won’t bother you anymore!”
Without waiting for Julius to speak again, she crossed the street carrying the child.
Julius was taken aback, and quickly started to chase after, but unexpectedly collided head–on with a truck speeding from the side.
The harsh sound of brakes pierced through the air, and the tires rubbed against the asphalt road, producing a strong smell of burnt rubber.
Julius felt his body being lifted by a tremendous force. Before he could
even glance at Eileen and the child, he was violently sa ground.

The intense pain surged through his limbs and body like a tide, as his consciousness began to blur, he seemed to see Eileen rushing towards him in a panic.
She cried and shook him, “Julius, wake up, you can’t die. You haven’t signed the divorce agreement yet. I don’t want any ties with you even in the underworld.”
Julius tugged at the corner of his mouth, his eyes gradually becoming unfocused.
Little did he expect that the last words he heard before dying would be Eileen telling him she wanted a divorce…
When he opened his eyes again, the smell of disinfectant made him cough violently.
Upon hearing this, the assistant quickly stepped forward to support him. “Mr. Swanton, you’re awake. How are you feeling now?”
Julius shook his head, as if only in this way could he make his consciousness slightly clearer.
He had been lying on the bed for a while, just about to open his mouth to ask something, when the doctor walked in. “Hello, Mr. Swanton, you have finally woken up.”
“Unfortunately, we have to tell you a fact that we were unable to save your legs. We are truly sorry.”
“With a loud buzzing sound, the sky roared, and Julius felt as if he had been struck by lightning.”
He subconsciously touched his lower body and, sure enough, it was

empty…
“Ah!” The next second, he screamed in pain, “What’s happening? What’s happening? Where is my leg? Where is my leg?”
“Without legs, how can I chase after Eileen? Without legs, how can I be the head of the Swanton family?”
He shouted loudly, continuously pounding the edge of the bed, refusing to accept the fact.
But the fact is the fact, whether he accepts it or not.
His legs were gone, and he became disabled.
He could no longer drive his beloved sports car, nor could he chase Eileen around the world.
Looking up again, his eyes were already bloodshot.
The assistant couldn’t bear it and quickly stepped forward to comfort, “Mr. Swanton, don’t be discouraged. With medical technology so advanced now, there must be a solution!”
Julius knew that there was no way out. His leg was gone, and with it, his dignity as a person was also lost.
Eileen would never return to his side again, he would become the joke of all New York.
He lay straight on the bed, with empty and despairing eyes, “It’s gone, my legs are gone…”
He kept repeating this sentence over and over again, as if he were possessed.
