Chapter 9
At that moment, Julius was standing in the grand foyer of the villa, absolutely furious.
He swept his gaze across the room, still seething, his voice already hoarse. “Has anyone found Mrs. Swanton yet?”
The housekeepers exchanged nervous glances, not daring to speak, only shaking their heads in silence.
Seeing this, Julius rubbed his forehead in frustration, his heart heavy with anxiety.
It was all because, on the day Eileen was discharged from the hospital, an unexpected meeting had come up and he hadn’t been able to pick her up himself.
When he got home that night, he was told she had run away!
“Unbelievable!”
Julius grumbled inwardly as he grabbed his coat, ready to head out and search for her.
Just then, Paula descended the stairs in her silk pajamas, with Archie following close behind.
She strolled up to Julius with a smile, looping her arms around his neck.
“What’s the rush? Maybe Ms. Greymoor just went out to clear her head, or maybe she went back to the Greymoor family. She’ll be back in a couple of days. Why make such a fuss and scare everyone?”

“Yeah, Daddy, Mommy probably went to see Uncle Victor. You don’t have to worry,” Archie chimed in.
At those words, Julius’s eyes lit up.
Of course–the Greymoor family!
Why hadn’t he thought of that?
Even though the Greymoor parents had passed away years ago and Victor the eldest son, lived abroad most of the time, Julius had heard that Victor had recently returned to town.
“Maybe Eileen went to see Victor!”
With that thought, he couldn’t wait another second. He pushed Paula aside and rushed out the door.
Paula staggered, pretending to fall, but Julius didn’t spare her a glance as he disappeared down the driveway.
Outside the Greymoor’s estate, Julius waited for an entire day and night, but never saw a soul.
Inside, Victor stood by the floor–to–ceiling windows, watching him coldly, his eyes full of disdain.
The Greymoor family’s butler approached quietly. “Mr. Greymoor, Mr. Swanton has been waiting outside for quite a while. Should we let him in?”
Victor snorted. “He’s no longer the Greymoor family’s son–in–law. We don’t owe him any courtesy. If he wants to wait, let him wait. I have more important things to do than see him.”
In truth, Victor had been busy gathering evidence of how Julius had swapped the children all those years ago.

Chapter 9
This man had betrayed his sister. Victor would never let him off the hook.
As for Paula, Victor had already sent copies of her crimes–kidnapping, assault, and unlawful imprisonment of Eileen–to both the police and the Swanton family.
He was eager to see how Julius would react when faced with the evidence of Paula’s repeated abuse of Eileen.
Just then, thunder cracked overhead, and rain began pouring in sheets.
Julius brushed the rain from his face, but showed no sign of leaving..
His people had turned all of New York upside down.
But there was no sign of Eileen–not even a trace.
So he was convinced Eileen must be hiding with the Greymoor family.
He wouldn’t leave. He was determined to wait her out.
“She loves me so much. When she sees me like this, she won’t have the heart to stay away. She’ll come out for sure.”
That thought renewed Julius’s confidence.
What he didn’t know was that, by now, Eileen and her son were already settled in Switzerland.
Their new life was finally taking shape.
Julius spent another night outside the Greymoor’s estate.
Early the next morning, in a haze, he thought he saw the Greymoor family’s butler opening the door for him.
He smiled, thinking Eileen had finally forgiven him and was willing to

see him at last.
The next second, he collapsed to the ground.
After standing in the pouring rain all night, he was barely conscious by the time they brought him to the hospital.
He lay on the hospital bed, his mind blank, his entire body aching and weak.
But he kept smiling.
Because he saw Eileen.
In his mind, she was there, gently stroking his hair, kissing him….
