Chapter 10
Gianna swept her gaze across Yahir and the three brothers. Then looked up at Carmen and Rosie, standing on the stairs.
She turned her eyes to the family portrait hanging on the wall.
What a joke everyone in the family was in that photo, except her.
That photo had been taken a year after Rosie came.
The day they took it, Rosie had locked her in a room. The rest of them happily went off to take the picture without her.
Afterwards, they yelled at her, accusing her of running off and ruining everything.

She tried to explain, but no one listened.
Later, thanks to Rosie’s insistence, that family photo got framed and hung on the wall–but she was never in it.
“To all of you, I’m just an outsider. So from now on, I won’t be back.”
“Oh, and just so you know,” she added, “Brendan and I are legally married now. He’s my husband.”
Dragging two suitcases, she headed for the door.
“GIANNA, what the hell are you doing now?” Dawson stood up. “Why are you always the one stirring up trouble?”
“Yeah, we’re nicer to Rosie–but that’s because she deserves it!”
Gianna turned around, locking eyes with him, her face full of mockery. “Right. She treats you well. I don’t.”
“It was Rosie who healed my leg–without her, I’d still be crippled!”
“Rosie saved my life. Without her, I’d be dead!”
“I became a star in the entertainment world–all because Rosie helped me!”
“We should be grateful!”
“We thank Rosie, sure–but we’ve never treated you badly either, right? Why are you always competing with her?”
Gianna gave a small, cold laugh. “Oh, no worries. I won’t compete with her anymore.”
She had saved them. Everything they had–was because of her.
But the sad thing was, no one ever believed it.
They all believed it had to be sweet, kind Rosie who did those things.
Not her–the cruel, bitter blood sister.
Fine.
She didn’t deserve them anyway.
Then, she walked out without a glance back, dragging her suitcases.
Carmen pounded her chest in anger. “That ungrateful brat! Whatever! She’s a curse on this house!”
“Remember what that fortune teller said when she was born? That she’d bring us bad luck!”
“Let her go! Now that she’s gone, Rosie will finally bring us some good fortune!”
Dowson sighed “Cha’s just natting more and more out of control”

“Mom, Dad… don’t blame her. It’s probably my fault. I shouldn’t have come to this family. I took too much from her. Of course she’d feel bad. “Rosie said sweetly, putting on a show.
“This has nothing to do with you. She’s the one who’s out of line!”
“Rosie, don’t blame yourself. None of this is your fault!”
Arnold came back that same night.
He had made a last–minute trip out of town. When he got Rosie’s call, he suddenly remembered the wedding was already over–and he still didn’t know how it went.
But he wasn’t too worried.
Gianna loved him so much.
Even if he upset her, she could never stay mad for more than a day before apologizing and trying to win him back.
It was just a wedding. No big deal.

She had wanted to marry him so badly. Even if he wasn’t there, she definitely would’ve found a way to keep the ceremony going and save face.
Arnold glanced at his watch.
The workday was nearly over. Knowing Gianna, she probably couldn’t wait any longer and would show up to see him any minute now.
