Chapter 11
Arnold was deep in thought when someone knock on the door. He had been thinking about Gianna, but right away, he pretended to look busy.
“Come in.”
After calling out, he lowered his head and acted like he was working.
No way would he let her know he’d been thinking about her.
He knew Gianna too well. If she came to beg him and he even gave her the slightest bit of kindness, she’d think he couldn’t live without her.
Whatever he did, no matter how badly, she always put up with it–without limits.
The wedding went smoothly yesterday, right?” He spoke without looking up. “I told you, you could handle it on your own. What were you fussing about? You did great. I heard there’s a nice new restaurant. I’ll take you out for dinner later.”
Arnold continued speaking without lifting his gaze, oblivious to the fact that the person who entered wasn’t Gianna at all.
His secretary, Aalis, was standing there, frozen. Her expression was a mix of confusion and something else she couldn’t quite place.
After a moment, she cleared her throat, “Mr. Walsh, there’s a document that needs your signature.”
Arnold’s head shot up when he heard her voice. There was no Gianna. Just Aalis.
“She didn’t come?” he frowned.
“Who?” Aalis blinked.
“Gianna.“His frown deepened.
What, she’s mad over that little thing? What was the big deal? If the wedding hadn’t gone well, his grandpa would’ve been on his case already.
“Ms. Carlton hasn’t been in today,” Aalis responded, hesitating.
Mr. Walsh didn’t seem to know anything, but the whole office had already heard the gossip.
The woman who was supposed to marry him, had just had a wedding with Mr. Curtis instead! And not just that. Mr. Curtis even posted about it online–they got their marriage license too!
And Mr. Curtis gave out wedding gifts–everybody got some, even the cleaning lady!
From the looks of it, Mr. Walsh had no clue.
No wonder everyone was saying Mr. Walsh seemed in a great mood today. Like he didn’t care at all about her marriage.
He didn’t care–because he didn’t know.
He probably thought Gianna still went ahead and had that wedding with him.
Aalis thought about it but decided not to spill the beans. He’d find out soon enough. Honestly, she’d been fed up with how Mr. Walsh treated Ms.
Carlton.
Ms. Carlton was sweet and pretty–no clue how she ended up liking this cold–hearted jerk. Luckily, she finally woke up.
Arnold signed the document and handed it back, he glanced at Aalis.
“I see everyone has chocolates on their desks. Was that from Gianna?”
Aalis hesitated. “I’m not sure, sir. Maybe you should ask Ms. Carlton yourself.”
With that, she turned and hurried out like she was running away.

He tugged at nis tie, clearly annoyed. what the neck was Glanna playing at?
Could it be that she was waiting for him at home?
He thought for a second and then noticed–there was a box of wedding gift on his desk too.
She had been here?
She even left him some candy? Was she reminding him they were already married?
Yeah… Could be.
His irritation disappeared in an instant. He grabbed his jacket and headed home.
It had been days since he’d tasted Gianna’s cooking. Despite his usual disdain for her homemaking efforts, he couldn’t deny her meals were delicious,
And yeah… he kind of missed it.
