Chapter 6
Rosie recognized immediately. Those weren’t the same rings she’d seen for Gianna and Arnold. She’d seen those rings before. These were
different!
“Gianna’s tired. I’m taking her home.”
Brendan didn’t give anyone a chance to say another word. He just walked out, taking Gianna with him.
On their way out, they bumped into Kathryn and her friends.
Gianna leaned over and whispered, “I’ll explain everything later. You guys go on home for now.”
In the car, Gianna glanced at Brendan. “I could’ve just stayed at a hotel.”
She still felt like she was bothering him.
Even though they’d signed a contract and planned to go get their marriage license tomorrow, officially becoming a “contract couple,” she knew she was the one who had pushed him into this.
She was afraid going straight to his place would make things awkward.
“You’re already Mrs. Curtis.”
Brendan sat beside her, powerful as ever. While working on his laptop, he didn’t even lift his head and said flatly.
Soon, they arrived at the Curtis Manor.
Curtis Manor was huge. She had been here once before with Arnold. This was her second time.
Brendan led her inside.
“Susan, this is my new wife. From now on, you serve her the same way you serve me. It’s late, and I’ve got some work to handle. I’ll be heading out again, so take her to her room to rest. Whatever she needs, just make it happen.”
He introduced Gianna to Susan, then turned and left.
Susan took Gianna to Brendan’s room.
Just like she expected, his room was simple and tidy. No unnecessary decorations.
She stayed the night there under Susan’s arrangement.
The next morning, when she woke up, Brendan was gone. She only saw him after she went downstairs.
“Morning.”
“Morning.”
They greeted each other, the air between them just a little… awkward.
“Susan made breakfast. You eat first I’m gonna take a shower. After that, we’ll go get the marriage license.”
With that, Brendan went upstairs.
Gianna finally let out a quiet breath. She was still a little nervous around him.
While she was having breakfast, her phone rang. It was Carmen.
“Gianna, come home right now! After what happened yesterday, you owe us an explanation!”

Gianna 100кеa at the phone for a second, then set it aside.
She did still need to go home one last time–to pack up her stuff.
From now on, she’d never go back to that house again.
That place was never her home. She didn’t even have a spot in the family photo.
Just thinking about it made her chest feel tight.
She had poured her whole heart out for them. She gave so much. She was their real daughter. But whether it was her father Yahir, her mother Carmen, or her three older brothers-
None of them ever liked her. None of them ever really cared.
All they saw was Rosie, the adopted daughter.
They’d buy Rosie all kinds of gifts, but never gave her anything. And if they did, it was something they got for free or something they picked up last minute.
Back then, she tried so hard to please them. She hoped they’d change. Hoped they’d accept her.
But after dying once, she finally woke up.
What good is that kind of family love?
Even when she died, they didn’t feel a single second of sorrow for her.
