Chapter 2
When I woke up again, the room was pitch black and dead quiet.[]
I pulled out my phone to check the time, and the first thing I saw were trending notifications from Twitter-
[Elite New York heir Kai Harrington shops with Miss Celeste, buying out entire street!]]
[Miss Celeste’s father gifts her luxury estate–wedding present perhaps?]]
Weird thing was, I felt absolutely nothing.[]
My phone buzzed–a text from Kai:
[Get some rest. Celeste isn’t feeling well, so I’m staying with her for a few days.]]]
I smirked.
Busy? More like he finally found an excuse to avoid dealing with me–someone who clearly disgusted him.[]
Suddenly, a pop–up auction news alert caught my attention.[]
The moment I saw the photo, my blood turned to ice—it was unmistakably my mother’s favorite jade bracelet from when she was
alive!
Finally, discharge day arrived.]]
Even though no one came to pick me up, I didn’t care–I had more important things on my mind.[]
Dragging my still–healing body, I rushed non–stop to the auction house, and the moment I walked in, I saw Kai and Celeste sitting intimately together.]
“Sis!” Celeste waved me over. “Come sit next to me!“]
Kai was about to say something, but I’d already turned and walked to a corner.[]
When that gorgeous green jade bracelet appeared, the whole room gasped.[]
“$1,000,000!”
“$2,000,000!“[]
When the bidding hit $5,000,000, I shot my hand up without hesitation.[]
“$8,000,000!“]
Celeste’s face went ugly real quick. Kai walked over with a dark expression. “Vivian, don’t be stubborn. Your sister likes this bracelet, so why not just-”
“Even if I have to sell my house and car,” I stared him dead in the eye, “I’m getting that bracelet.“[]

He gave me this complicated look, then went back to his seat.[]
But I saw him pull out his phone and start typing the moment he sat down, and suddenly I had a terrible feeling in my chest…
“$8,000,000 going once! $8,000,000 going twice!“[]
“I place an absolute bid!” Some guy in a sharp suit suddenly burst in. “Young Master Harrington place an absolute bid for Miss Celeste Ashworth!”
A shy blush crept across Celeste’s face.
Watching helplessly as the auctioneer brought down the gavel, I clenched my fists so tight I hated myself for being powerless, and hated even more the lovey–dovey pair of bastards in front of me.[]
Back home, Celeste was showing off the bracelet on her wrist. “You really wanted this, didn’t you, sis? Too bad–when I want something, someone always hands it right over.‘
c.“]
She
She suddenly took off the bracelet and dangled it in front of me. “Well, I’ve got so much jewelry, I don’t really need this one. You really want it, sis?“||
“What’s your price?” My voice was tight.]
“How about… you crawl around and bark like a dog?” She giggled behind her hand.
“In your dreams!“]
“Well, that’s a shame.” Her red lips curved up, and her fingers suddenly let go.
The next second, with a crisp cracking sound, the bracelet fell from the second floor and shattered into pieces.
“YOU!” I instantly lost control and couldn’t help roaring at her in fury.
To my horror, she suddenly slapped herself hard across the face:[]
“Sis, this bracelet was a gift from Young Master Harrington. Even if you really like it, you can’t steal have it doesn’t inean you should destroy it–that’s way too much!“]
it
from me! Just because you can’t
Hearing the commotion, Kai rushed upstairs, and when he saw Celeste covering her face with red–rimmed eyes, his turned ice–cold as he looked at me.[]
“Vivian, are you bullying Celeste again?!”
gaze instantly
Celeste’s eyes filled with tears. “Sis, why won’t you just leave me alone? Dad and Ryan are nice to me, just because we’re family. Why do you always misunderstand and think they’re playing favorites…“]
As she spoke, she casually moved closer to me, and from an angle Kai couldn’t see, she suddenly shoved me hard.[]
Next second, I stumbled backward and tumbled down the stairs.
