Chapter 24 She’s Dangerous!
Lailah reclined slightly, her voice steady as she declared. “She was the one who struck me.”
“Tamara claims it was you who stormed out and struck her deliberately.” he countered.
Lailah lifted her gaze, meeting his cold, indifferent eyes. “So, you believe Ms. Mosley’s account?”
Zayden paused, a beat of silence stretching between them before he replied, “Tamara has no conceivable reason to strike you.”
“And do I have reason to strike her?” Lailah shot back.
Zayden fixed his stare on her, his dark pupils deep and unreadable.
“Then, did you strike Tamara intentionally?”
“No,” Lailah stated simply.
A heavy silence descended upon the ward, thick and suffocating.
After what felt like an eternity, his cold voice broke the stillness.
“Rest now. I will get to the bottom of this.”
Lailah watched his retreating figure in silence, her expression unreadable.
Zayden made no further inquiries. It wasn’t that he believed her; it was that he needed evidence first.
If he truly believed her, he wouldn’t have posed those pointed questions.
Chapter 24 She’s Dangerous!
Moments after Zayden departed, Lailah’s phone buzzed. It was Jamir.
“Lili? Did you have a car accident? Are you alright? Is it serious?”
Lailah’s brow furrowed slightly. “Jamir, how did you know?”
Jamir’s voice lowered. “It was trending this morning. Lili, are you okay?”
“I’m fine. Just a few scrapes. Should be discharged in a day or two. Don’t worry about me.”
‘Alright, but call if you need anything.”
Jamir would have loved to help Lailah suppress the trending topic, but his reclusive nature and focus on music meant he hadn’t cultivated the
necessary connections, despite his popularity.
When Lailah’s name hit the trending lists, he found himself powerless to remove it.
Lailah hung up, closing her eyes as she lay back on the pillow. What was her next move?
Tamara’s unwavering confidence spoke volumes. She had clearly prepared meticulously for this.
Even the so–called eyewitnesses felt suspicious, as if they’d been pre- arranged.
With public opinion already simmering, and Tamara so thoroughly prepared and personally stepping in to handle the matter, taking risks seemed almost deliberate.
This situation was far from simple. Resolving it would be no easy feat.
A sharp pain throbbed in Lailah’s temples.

With Tamara stirring up trouble yet again, any hope of a peaceful resolution between her and Zayden felt increasingly remote.
Just then, a sharp, aggressive knock echoed against the door.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Lailah didn’t even have a chance to ask who was there before the door was violently shoved open.
Stepping into the room, radiating fury, was Jaylen, flanked by Tamara, her bandaged arm still in evidence.
“Lailah, you monster!” Jaylen spat, his finger jabbing directly at Lailah with blatant disrespect. “Last time Tamara ended up in the water, you weaseled your way out of it. But not this time! Explain yourself!”
Lailah’s expression turned to ice, her tone hardening.
“Get out of my room!”
“It’s you who should leave!” Jaylen snarled, suddenly snatching the water cup from the nightstand. He hurled the contents, splashing the cool liquid harshly across Lailah’s face. “Lailah, listen closely, Zayden won’t let this slide! You killer, just wait for your prison sentence!”
Still weakened from her injuries, Lailah couldn’t react quickly enough to avoid the splash.
“You dared to hurt Tamara? Even if I killed you, Zayden wouldn’t object! He’d probably be pleased! Today, I’m teaching you, the murderer, a lesson on Zayden’s behalf?”
With a menacing growl, he took a step towards Lailah.
But just as he reached the edge of the bed, Lailah’s foot lashed out with sudden, surprising force, connecting hard with his stomach.
Jaylen gasped, his balance shattered. He crashed heavily into the nearby table.
The impact sent the water cups tumbling to the floor, shattering into countless sharp pieces.
Beside them, Tamara instinctively reached for Jaylen. But with her arm still bandaged and useless, she had no leverage.
Jaylen’s fall dragged her down, sending her sprawling onto the broken glass.
Just then, the ward door swung open.
A tall, slender man stepped inside. It was Zayden.
Seeing the chaotic scene within the ward, Zayden paused mid–stride.
“What is the meaning of this?” he demanded.
Jaylen, still smarting on the ground, winced.
But when his eyes landed on Zayden, pure fury ignited within him.
He scrambled to his feet, pointing an accusing finger at Lailah.
“Zayden, look at her! This woman, supposedly weak and here because of a car accident, actually threw us both around! She’s not faking anything. she’s dangerous!”
He continued, his voice rising, “She assaulted me, that’s one thing. But Tamara’s injuries aren’t even healed yet, and this cruel woman deliberately pushed her, revealing her true maliciousness!”
Zayden’s gaze shifted, cool and assessing, from Lailah’s composed face to Tamara sprawled on the floor. His brows drew together slightly.

Tamara’s limbs were scored by shards of glass, deep cuts bleeding freely.
The sight was startlingly raw.
Though she didn’t cry out, Tamara bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes as she struggled to push herself up from the debris.
Her injured arm hindered her efforts. For a long moment, she strained, unable to rise, while more shards embedded themselves in her worsening
wounds.
Zayden’s gaze narrowed almost imperceptibly as he gently lifted Tamara from the floor.
He turned to Jaylen, his tone cool and detached.
“Someone will clean up the glass. I need to get Tamara treated first.”
Jaylen opened his mouth, clearly intending to taunt Lailah further, but found her already lying back with her eyes closed. Her expression was like ice, utterly detached, as if the chaos surrounding her held no relevance.
Jaylen snorted contemptuously and snapped his fingers, ordering someone to clear the broken glass.
It wasn’t out of any concern for Lailah potentially stepping on the sharp pieces.
He knew, with chilling certainty, that Zayden would return his full attention to Lailah the moment Tamara was seen to.

Just as expected, an hour later, Zayden returned, with Tamara beside him.
Tamara, who had been able to walk moments before, was now seated in a

wheelchair.
Lailah shot a quick, assessing glance at her, then, with an air of indifference, lowered her head and resumed scrolling on her phone.
Witnessing Lailah’s unwavering coldness, Zayden’s brow furrowed slightly.
“Lailah, don’t you have anything to say?”
Lailah’s response was curt and simple. “No.”
Jaylen, who was pushing the wheelchair, spat out an angry retort, “She did this! Of course, she has nothing to say!
“From deliberately crashing into Tamara’s car to pushing her over–it just shows how utterly vicious this woman is!”
Zayden fixed his gaze on Lailah. “Lailah, is that true?”
Lailah didn’t even bother to lift her head. “Whatever you want to believe, I suppose.”
Anyone could see the utter dismissal in Lailah’s posture and tone.
Tamara, however, seized the opportunity, her eyes immediately welling with tears.
“I know Ms. Griffith has always misunderstood Zayden and me. I can explain everything… Zayden and I are nothing like you imagine…”
Lailah’s brow furrowed slightly, and she looked up at Tamara, a cool, half–smile playing on her lips.
“Ms. Mosley, are you sure about that?”
