Chapter 25 Then Go Die
Tamara dabbed at the tears welling at the corners of her eyes. “Ms. Griffith, I know Zayden and I have a past that has always bothered you, but those are all things of the past…
“Everyone has a past. Is that past so hard to forgive?”
Tamara’s pupils flickered, a momentary uncertainty visible.
“Is it only if I die… that you will be satisfied?” Tamara asked, her voice cracking.
Lailah looked up, a slow, chilling smile spreading across her face.
She spoke softly, almost gently, “Alright, then go die.
Zayden’s expression instantly darkened. “Lailah!”
Lailah sneered, “Zayden, that look on your face is really unnecessary, isn’t it? It was Ms. Mosley who said she wanted to die, not me. It’s not my fault if she wants to kill herself.”
Tamara’s pupils suddenly widened, the tears now streaming unchecked. down her cheeks.
With a sudden, violent movement, she pushed herself out of the wheelchair and lunged towards the nearby window.
“Since Ms. Griffith wants me to die, then I will die!”
“Tamara, don’t!” Jaylen cried out, startled, and rushed to grab her arm.
Zayden, his face like ice, moved instantly to intercept Tamara, his tone
harsh.
“Tamara, what are you doing?”
Tamara, lost in a frenzy, screamed hysterically, “I know Ms. Griffith hates me! Since she hates me so much, then let me die! Let go! Let me go! Let me die!”
Zayden’s lips were pressed into a tight, hard line. “Calm down.”
Tamara’s tears flowed freely, deaf to reason, as she raged, “I shouldn’t have come back, shouldn’t have appeared in front of you!”
Tamara’s desperate, suicidal actions sent the already tense ward spiraling into chaos.
Amidst the turmoil, a sharp, ice–cold laugh cut through the noise, stark and distinct.
“Since Mr. Walter doesn’t want you to die, then don’t die. How about eating shit instead?”
Lailah looked at Tamara, a mocking smile playing on her lips. “Ms. Mosley, since you listen to me very well, you wouldn’t refuse, would you?”
Jaylen was apoplectic, pointing a shaking finger at Lailah.
“Lailah, you havegonetoofar this time!”
Lailah looked genuinely puzzled. “I said let her die, and she goes to die. Since she follows everything I say, now I’m being kind and not letting her die. Why aren’t you satisfied?”
Lailah’s voice paused, and a slow realization spread across her face, laced with bitter sarcasm.

With that, he disregarded the others entirely, setting the thermos he carried down onto the table.
“Lili, have you eaten yet? I brought breakfast.”
“Thank you, Mr. Davidson,” Lailah replied, a touch of warmth entering her voice.
Jaylen, observing a stranger attending to Lailah, couldn’t resist a cutting remark, his eyes narrowing with contempt.
“Well, well. Haven’t even divorced Zayden yet, and you’re already lining up a replacement? This is a hospital, Lailah. Even if you’re desperate, you should know enough to keep a low profile, right?”
He paused, noticing Zayden’s presence nearby, and subtly adjusted his tone, though the disdain remained. “Have you no shame at all, Lailah?”
Maxwell, completely ignoring Jaylen, turned his gaze towards Zayden, a knowing, half–smile playing on his lips.
“Mr. Walter, even if you dislike Lili, is it necessary to subject your injured wife to this, surrounded by your mistress and her friend?”
Zayden’s handsome features seemed to freeze, his voice chilling. “Mr. Davidson, since you know she’s my wife, why are you lingering here, flirting with a married woman, so early in the morning?”
Maxwell, the current heir to the Davidson Group, had been residing in
Esterloch.
He had a five–year–old child, the mother of whom remained unknown. Rumors often labeled the child illegitimate, as Maxwell had never been reported as married.
The Davidson Group was a corporate power house, comparable in strength and influence to the Walter Group.
Chapter 25 That Do Die
In recent years, the Davidson Group had expressed interest in
collaborating with companies within Speuria, a move widely perceived as an attempt to establish a foothold there.
Maxwell met Zayden’s gaze, his smile barely flickering.
“Mr. Walter, you know you’re Lili’s husband. Wouldn’t it be more. appropriate to inquire about her health, whether she’s eaten, rather than bringing your mistress here to confront her?
“Someone else will certainly take an interest in Lili if you don’t.”
Jaylen couldn’t resist interjecting again, his voice rising shrilly, “We’re here to confront Lailah, this murderer, about why she deliberately struck Tamara and nearly killed her!”
Maxwell glanced dismissively at Jaylen, then turned his attention back to the others, his voice adopting a slow, deliberate rhythm.
“Neither you nor Ms. Mosley are police officers. You have no right to interrogate Lili. Any legitimate questions should be directed to the authorities. Right now, Lili requires rest. Please, leave.”
Jaylen bristled, “Hey! Who do you think you are, telling us to leave? I haven’t even gotten answers about Lailah knocking both Tamara and me to the floor earlier!”
“Lili knocked you to the floor?” Maxwell repeated, his tone incredulous, as if hearing something absurd. “Perhaps you should ask the doctor whether, in her current state, Lili is even physically capable of getting out of bed, let alone knocking someone?”
Although directed at Jaylen, his gaze never left Zayden.
“Lili’s foot isn’t fractured, but it’s sprained. She’s confined to bed and cannot exert any force for the next three days.”

A faint smile touched Maxwell’s lips. “Mr. Walter, do you genuinely believe a woman bedridden and unable to move possesses the strength to knock this gentleman and Ms. Mosley?
“To be clear, they could have easily avoided being ‘knocked‘ by Lili, couldn’t they? After all, Ms. Mosley injured her hand, not her foot.”
As if just remembering, he added, “Oh, yes. Mr. Walter, if you doubt my word, perhaps you could request a doctor’s examination of Lili’s foot. injury. That should easily verify whether I’m being truthful.”
Zayden’s eyes seemed to darken further, the intensity in his gaze shifting abruptly towards Jaylen.
