I just gently raised my hand, showing him the enormous diamond, which Scripps had given me.
But it landed on his heart like a thunderbolt.
William’s eyes were full of incomprehension, as if he genuinely didn’t understand my reason for rejecting the mating bond:
He still waited for my explanation.
But I only said:
“You’ve misunderstood. I have no intention of waiting for you. We should have ended a long time ago.”
As soon as the words left my mouth, a burst of rapid footsteps came from the entrance of the hall.
“Julia, you little whore, what bad things did you say about me to my brother? Why he wants to sever all ties with our family?”
Rita rushed in, crying and shouting, while desperately grabbing William’s arm.
She immediately noticed the waistline of my mating dress.
A flash of malicious glee appeared in her eyes, but her tone was pitiful:
“Brother, look! How cold–blooded Julia is! Now that she’s hang over with a better one, so she ruthlessly aborted your child!” /“Clearly, she doesn’t love you at all! I’m the only one who truly love you forever.”
Rita thought that her few words of incitement would once again stir up William’s resentment towards me.
But unexpectedly, William was completely out of her control this time.
“Shut up.”
“Don’t say anything.”
William slowly looked up at me, his eyes filled with devastation.
“Julia, you’re lying to me, aren’t you?”
His voice choked with emotion, almost pleading:
“Child… It was a miscarriage, wasn’t it? It’s okay, I don’t blame you. Come back with me, we’ll hold the mating ceremony. It’s not easy for your parents to come here.”
When he said this, he looked like a lost and helpless child.
But I’m no longer the girl who can be fooled by a few words.
My parents were originally sitting quietly, not wanting to cause me trouble.
But now, they can’t take it anymore.
