Before Willow could answer, my secretary
came in. “Ms. Stewart, Ethan Holt from Star
Corp is here to see you. He wants to talk
about buying Star Corp.”
I blinked.
Willow shouted, “That’s the BEST news ever!”
- 8.
Even though I said I didn’t care about Star
Corp, it was still my parents‘ legacy. I spent years there. I couldn’t just forget about it.
If Ethan didn’t beg me to buy Star Corp, I
wouldn’t have seen him.
I found Ethan in the conference room, looking
like hell.
He looked at me, his eyes filled with guilt. He’d been regretting his decisions.
“Hailey, I…”
I cut him off. “Mr. Holt. What can I do for
you?”
I was over that.
In my eyes, he was a stranger.
Those months of travel had changed me. I
realized how stupid I’d been, thinking Ethan
was my whole world.
Whatever Ethan was thinking, we were never
going back to that place.
Ethan hesitated, then sighed.
く
“Star Corp is our families‘ legacy. You don’t
want to see it fall apart, do you?”
“I’m giving you Star Corp, no charge. Will you
take it?”
Star Corp was bankrupt, with debts piling up.
But if I could reorganize it, I knew I could
bring it back to its former glory.
I signed the transfer agreement with no
hesitation.
After I signed, Ethan looked even older, like
he was completely empty.
As he left, he gave me a long, sad look. “I’m
sorry.”
“If I could do it all again…”
He stopped, turned, and walked away.
He knew there was no going back.
Willow watched him go. “Too little, too late.”
“Don’t go soft on him now!
“He probably just wants to come back so he
can use you again! Don’t let him!”
く
Even if he begged me, I wouldn’t take him
back.
“Now stop it! We have to reorganizing Star
Corp.”
A few days later, the news made me freeze.
Two bodies were found outside the city, near
the coast.
Ethan and Serenity!
Somehow, Ethan found Serenity. He hacked
her to death with an ax, then hanged himself
in the woods.
It was a huge story. Ethan and Serenity had
been big shots at Star Corp.
I flew to the coast. I wanted to give Ethan a
burial.
Not because I still loved him, but because I
wanted to repay his parents for raising me.
I buried Ethan next to his parents.
“Ethan, I don’t love you anymore!”
“Don’t come looking for me in the next life.”

“Don’t come looking for me in the next life.” Willow huffed. “That was too good for him.” “He’s probably manipulating you from beyond the grave.”
I shook my head.
“I don’t think this relationship can be saved at this point, so it is fine if they both stay gone from Hailey’s life.”
After a moment of thought, Hailey let out a
long sigh as she decided to let it rest.
Hailey decided that she no longer thought of them.
After that she could decide on what she
should do next.
