Chapter 10
“You ruined Mom’s life! Rot in hell with her!”
Surprise flickered in Kaelen’s eyes, then vanished.
He gently wiped the blood from my fingers. “Don’t dirty your hands. I’ll do it.”
Seeing me shake, he almost smiled. “Relax. You barely scratched him.”
He turned to Seraphina and her mother. A few swift strokes. Their hair fell away.
“Dump them in The Blocks Street.”
Seraphina screamed. Everyone knew The Blocks Street. Bodies turned up there often.
“NO! Callahan! Help! I’m carrying your child!”
Callahan seemed deaf. He walked towards me, dazed. “Elara… I’m sorry.”
“Seraphina… it was an act! I never meant to divorce you! I came for you that night… but you were gone…”
“I missed you… every day…”
The shadows under his eyes were real. But the bridge between us burned the day Mom jumped. My twisted love for him was ash.
Grandfather snorted. “So you’re the one? Flushed my daughter’s ashes? Chained my granddaughter like a dog?”
Callahan tore his gaze from me. “Lies! All lies!”
“It was just business! I only love Elara! How could I hurt her?!”
“I planned our wedding! Once I had the land, Elara would have everything!”
I laughed. A cold, hollow sound.
Callahan flinched. “Elara?”
I ignored him, turning to grandfather. “Make him disappear. Forever.”
Callahan’s eyes reddened. “Elara? You don’t love me anymore?”
Tears filled my eyes. “Callahan. Mom dressed up that day. For my wedding. She looked beautiful.”
“But she relapsed. And you held her medicine hostage. Made me beg you. Made me grovel to my enemy at my own wedding.”
“She watched the livestream. Saw me beg you for money.”
“Her last words… were ‘Never beg him again.”
Tears streamed freely. I handed him a paper. “Callahan. It’s over.”
“You could die a thousand times… it won’t bring her back.”
Benedict Thorne fell at grandfather’s feet. “Silas! For the sake of our past! Spare Callahan! My only grandson!”
He pleaded with me. “Elara… please… spare him… an old man begs you…”

Chapter 10
He plunged a knife into his own stomach. Dying, he grasped my hand. “His debt… I pay… let him live…”
In the end, grandfather spared Callahan.
For the years Benedict Thorne genuinely cared for me before grandfather finding us.
And old Mr. Thorne was the only elder outside my mother, who ever treated me with kindness.
Grandfather honored the blood oath, finally answered this request.
But the Thorne empire crumbled.
Callahan Thorne, the once untouchable prince, had nothing.
He haunted my paths. Seeing me, his eyes would always redden.
The words on his lips were always “I’m sorry.”
But my past was already buried.
Kaelen’s large hand enveloped mine. “Where to today, my lady?”
