Chapter 3
Vincent and I were sitting out on the porch swing, like we always did, watching the flowers sway in the breeze.
Petals danced in the air like confetti, drifting gently to the ground. It was… beautiful.
I shut my eyes slowly.
“Vincent,” I murmured, “wouldn’t it be perfect if life just stayed like this?”
“If things stayed this peaceful, maybe… maybe we’d be married by now.”
But the man beside me didn’t answer.
It was the first time I’d ever brought up marriage.
I opened my eyes–only to find Vincent glued to his phone, furiously texting.
“Buy Evelyn some antihistamines.”
“The pollen’s crazy right now and she’s allergic to the fuzz in the air.”
Each word hit me like an ice pick to the heart.
He knew her allergies by heart.
Knew how to take care of her without even blinking.
And I was sitting right here–invisible.
He hadn’t even noticed me staring at him.
Just as he finally lowered his phone, it started ringing.
“Mr. Blackwood, it’s urgent.”
“Miss Evelyn’s packing to leave–she’s dead set on going, and no one can talk her out of it.”
Vincent shot up like he’d been struck
He grabbed his phone and bolted for the car.
“I’m paying you to handle things, not sit around! If you’re useless, you can all get the hell out!”
“It’s too windy today, the planes shouldn’t even be flying!”
“How can you let her throw a tantrum like this?!”
I watched him vanish down the driveway, his voice fading into the distance.
And just like that… the world blurred.
I knew he wouldn’t stay.
He never stays. Not for me.
It started to rain–soft at first.

Chapter 3
I wandered the garden alone, umbrella in hand.
Surrounded by flowers we once planted together.
Or maybe I was just one of them–a petal fallen to the dirt.
Now all I could do was rot into the ground and keep his flowers blooming.
Funny, how something I once dreamed of could feel so bitter now.
That day, The Blackwood Heir from the Hamptons stopped a damn plane for love.
The story was everywhere. Viral for days.
Everyone swooned over their epic romance, filling in the blanks with their own fairytale ending.
Some even blamed me for getting in the way.
Others pitied me–how could a man just leave his official girlfriend alone in the middle of nowhere?
On the road back from the countryside, there were wild animals.
Maybe he didn’t think about that.
Or maybe…
he just didn’t care.
For three years, the world said I was the girl who tamed the billionaire playboy.
Now?
Apparently I was just a forgettable chapter.
When I came home, our housekeeper Ms. Mia looked at me with tears in her eyes.
“That little vixen planned the whole thing,” she muttered.
“Slept ‘til noon every day like she was royalty.”
“But the second she heard you and Mr. Vincent went out to see the gardenias–she snapped.”
“He’s been with her non–stop these past few days, and she didn’t even blink. But today?”
“Suddenly she wants to travel the world?”

“When he tried to stop her, she acted like she didn’t want to ruin your relationship–then ‘accidentally‘ collapsed into his arms.”
“Honestly, after this performance, Hollywood better come knocking.”
