Chapter 12 Real Identity
“Nothing. I’m just a bit curious.”
Bridgette smiled, not wanting to raise Christine’s suspicion.
“Mom, if nothing else, I’m going back to my room.” She strode away, almost fleeing.
“What’s up with Bridie? She’s acting so weird today.
Staring at her retreating figure, Christine shook her head, puzzled.
Bridgette weighed every word, fearing that Christine would catch on to something.
Before she figured out Sephora’s real identity, she didn’t want Christine to know anything about it.
Going back to her room as quickly as possible was her only choice.
After closing the door, she recalled everything that had happened today at the party carefully.
The only thing she could say for sure was that Sephora’s real identity was far more complicated than she had pictured and that Sephora’s adoptive parents were definitely not ordinary people.
Sephora must have been hiding her identity. Who exactly was she? Why did she hide her identity?
Bridgette scratched her head irritably. She had no idea who Sephora really was.

Finally, she gave up for now, deciding to sense Sephora out during dinner.
She sat up in bed abruptly, thinking, “It seems Sephora isn’t as easy to deal with as I thought. I must think of something better.
“She’s why I made such a fool of myself today. I ended up being kicked out of the party, and even Elaine hates me now. All of this happens because of that bitch Sephora!”
Bridgette’s gaze turned vicious as Sephora’s face emerged in her mind.
Sephora, who was on her phone in the room, sneezed suddenly.
She instantly knew Bridgette must be cursing her somewhere. It made sense–after all, Bridgette totally embarrassed herself today.
But Sephora didn’t think she was to blame. All of this happened because Bridgette had switched Seymour’s gift secretly. To put it bluntly, Bridgette did this to herself.
Meanwhile, as Sephora’s figure vanished from Lowell’s sight, he turned around and strode back to the main hall.
The guests there were still buzzing about Philomel.
“Who would have thought the famous calligrapher Philomel is actually an underage girl?”
“I’m so shocked. I’ve always thought Philomel is a man in his forties or fifties.”
Amid their chatter, Lowell walked over to Xavier, who was admiring the blessing words Sephora had written for him on the spot.

“Grandpa.”
Xavier lifted his head slowly when he heard Lowell’s voice.
“Sephora has left?” he asked.
“Yes, Grandpa.”
“I’m still processing it–she’s Philomel? How shocking. I haven’t even thanked her yet.”
“It’s fine, Grandpa. You can thank her the next time you see her.”
“The next time… Lowe, what do you think of her?”
“She’s quite interesting.
Sephora’s petite figure emerged in Lowell’s mind, and he curved his lips before he realized it.
Keenly noticing the change in his expression, Xavier was secretly thrilled. His eyes lit up as he thought,
up as he thought, “Great! It seems Sephora has drawn Lowe’s attention.
“He had never shown this much interest in any woman before.”
Xavier had always wanted to unite with the Garcia family through marriage.
His thought grew even stronger now that he knew Sephora was
Philomel.
“Then you should invite Sephora out more often,” he suggested.
“I know, Grandpa. You don’t have to worry about that.”

Lowell, of course, picked up what Xavier was putting down. After all, Xavier had tried to set him up with all kinds of

But he had never been interested in any of them. Sephora was the only exception–he genuinely found her interesting.
She was different from any woman he had known, but that was all.
At night, Gerald came home from work, and the family of four had dinner together in the dining room.
“Sephora, what do your adoptive parents do? How come they’re friends. with the Austin family?” Bridgette asked, deliberately sounding casual.
Her voice broke the silence.
Sephora frowned subconsciously.
She thought, “Why is Bridgette suddenly speaking so nicely to me? I bet she’s up to something.”
“What does that have anything to do with you? Mind your own business.”
She said bluntly.
Bridgette was enraged but could only force a smile to get the answer she wanted.
“I’m just concerned about you, Sephora. Besides, I didn’t say anything out of turn, did I? Why are you so mean?”
Aggrieved, she looked at Gerald and Christine.
“Sephie, Bridie cares about you because you’re family. Be nice.”
Christine was obviously displeased by Sephora’s attitude.
“Oh, really? Since when did she start to care about me? I bet she has an agenda.” Sephora sneered.
Christine was at a loss for words. In fact, she was curious, too. Bridgette was indeed very curious about Sephora’s adoptive parents today.
The dining room fell into awkward silence,
To ease the tension, Gerald broke the silence.
“What’s this about the Austin family, Bridie?”
“It’s Sir Austin’s eightieth birthday today, and my friend’s family happens to be friends with the Austin family for generations, so she took me to the party. I saw Sephora there–apparently, she was there to deliver a gift on behalf of her adoptive brother. That’s why I’m curious about her adoptive parents.”
Bridgette recounted what had happened today, leaving out the part where she had switched the gift.
“The Austin family? That Austin family that even the elites fear?”
Everyone knew the Austin family. On the contrary, the Garcia family was nothing. How could they possibly know anyone from the Austin family, let alone Xavier?
“Yes, that Austin family,” Bridgette answered.
Both Christine and Gerald found it hard to believe. To them, the

Noticing the puzzled looks on their faces, Sephora decided to tell them. the truth. There was nothing to hide anyway.
“Seymour, my eldest brother, is in business associates with the Austin family. He knew today was Sir Austin’s eightieth birthday, but he was too busy to make it, so he asked me to deliver the gift for him.”
