Chapter 16 Chance Encounter
“And for dessert, Ma’am?” the waiter asked.
Bridgette said, “Maybe a chocolate muffin.
“And I’ll have a honey lemon water for drinks. Mom, Sephora, what would you like to drink?”
“Just water, thanks.”
Christine had always stepped away from sugary drinks because of her age and athletic past.
“I’ll have a glass of honey citrus mint tea, thank you,” Sephora answered politely.
“That’s it for now,” Bridgette said.
Then she gave the waiter the menu back.
“Alright, Ma’am.” He soon left.
Looking at Sephora, Bridgette said sweetly, “Sephora, I ordered you a well–done steak because I didn’t want you to find it too bloody and unacceptable.”
“You’re so considerate, Bridie,” Christine smiled with satisfaction.
Hearing this, Bridgette arched an eyebrow proudly at Sephora as if saying, “See? I’m Mom’s favorite.”
Sephora, however, couldn’t be bothered. She rolled her eyes at

Bridgette before looking away.
Soon, the dishes were brought to the table.
Instead of eating right away, Bridgette kept stealing glances at Sephora.
Picturing Sephora’s uneasiness, she couldn’t help but smile. complacently.
However, she was bound to be disappointed.
With her right hand holding the knife and her left hand holding the fork, Sephora cut her steak with practiced ease. She didn’t strike anyone as someone who had never tried French cuisine before.
Bridgette thought, “How’s this possible? I’m sure this is Sephora’s first time having French cuisine. There’s so much dining etiquette. How does she know it all? ”
She couldn’t think of an answer and had no choice but to continue eating in silence.
As they were about to finish, a commotion erupted from the door, followed by a waiter’s voice filled with respect.
Obviously, someone important was here.
“Greetings, Mr. Austin. This way.”
The three’s table wasn’t far from the door. Bridgette and Sephora were facing the door, whereas Christine sat opposite them.
Bridgette’s attention was drawn by the waiter’s voice.

There was only one Austin family in town, so she figured it was probably Lowell who had come here.
At this, she quickly looked up. Sure enough, Lowell’s figure came into her view.
He wore a dark blue suit with a pair of gold–rimmed glasses, which added a touch of refinement and gentleness to his sharp features.
The second Bridgette’s gaze fell upon him, she blushed and could barely look away.
On the contrary, Sephora was much calmer. The commotion at the door failed to attract her attention as she continued to eat leisurely.
Meanwhile, Lowell spotted Sephora. He curved his lips slightly and then walked toward her.
Gazing at him, Bridgette naturally noticed this. Figuring he had seen. her and was walking toward her, she was even more thrilled, feeling her heart leaping out of her throat.
Before he could reach their table, she sprang to her feet.
“What a nice coincidence, Lowe!”
Sephora, who was eating next to her quietly, was startled and frowned in both displeasure and bewilderment. She instinctively looked over.
In the next second, she met Lowell’s deep, intent gaze.
Lowell arched an eyebrow slightly at Bridgette’s voice.
“Who are you? Do I know you?”

Both his voice and words were cold.
“Lowe… Did you forget? I’m Elaine’s friend. We met at Sir Austin’s birthday party yesterday.”
Though Bridgette was a bit awkward, she still answered him happily.
Ignoring her, Lowell turned to Sephora.
“What a nice surprise to see you here, Ms. Garcia. Or should I call you Ms. Levine?”
Bridgette was slightly pale–faced when she saw Lowell ignore her and speak to Sephora instead.
“Whatever, Mr. Austin,” Sephora responded coldly.
Unlike other women, Sephora wasn’t even interested in talking to him, which somehow piqued Lowell’s interest.
“Alright then, Ms. Garcia. I wonder if I have the honor of dining with you. Maybe we can talk about the details of the travel project during lunch.”
“Sorry, Mr. Austin. I’ve just had lunch and am full now. Besides, I don’t know the project well. You should talk to Seymour.”
Sephora turned him down decisively.
It only made Lowell more interested in her.
Looking at her still–childish face, he figured she was technically a woman–if barely.
Other women went all out just to eat with him, yet Sephora actually

said no to him.
“Lowe, I’m free. I’m happy to eat with you,” Bridgette said quickly.
“Sorry, but I’m not interested in you. You don’t get to eat with me,‘ Lowell said to her coldly before leaving without looking back.
Bridgette was stunned. She stood in place, staring at his retreating figure.
They didn’t deliberately lower their voices when talking. Also, given Lowell’s status, those diners around them had been paying attention to them.
They whispered among themselves at Lowell’s cold refusal.
Bridgette was utterly humiliated as she heard their voices, but she remained calm and composed, as if nothing had ever happened.
But she clenched her fists under the table so hard that her nails dug into her palms, leaving marks.
She thought, a cold glint flashing across her eyes, “Sephora is just a countryside bumpkin. When did she get so close to Lowe? He’s so cold. to me all because of that bitch.
“Sephora, this isn’t over. I swear I’m gonna make you pay for today.”
