Chapter 19 A Bet
Seeing that Sephora lacked interest in responding to him, Lowell spoke up again.
“Ms. Garcia, let’s make a bet, shall we?”
“Oh? On what?” Sephora was a bit interested now, obviously.
“We raced last time, and you’ve got quite excellent racing skills, Ms. Garcia. Let’s race again today, for two laps. See which one of us can win. What do you say, Ms. Garcia?”
“No problem. But what’s in there for me if I win? I won’t do it if it’s a losing deal.”
“Well, if you win, Ms. Garcia, I’ll fulfill a wish of yours. But if I win, you’ll have to go with me to negotiate business with Seymour.”
Sephora agreed without any hesitation. In fact, she was quite confident when it came to motorcycle racing, and she knew she wouldn’t lose to Lowell.
“Deal. Hope you won’t regret it later, Mr. Austin!”
“Don’t worry. I’m a man of my word.”
Now that the bet had been confirmed, the two of them soon officially started the race.
They put on their helmets and got onto their motorcycles. This time, Maxwell would be the judge of the game and the witness of their bet.

The race started. As soon as the red light lit up, both motorcycles dashed out like arrows leaving the string.
At first, the two motorcycles were racing neck to neck. But gradually, Lowell was about a tire behind.
It was very easy for Lowell to surge past Sephora at such a distance. So, when passing the next bend, Sephora suddenly revved up while tilting her motorcycle towards the inside of the turn, which instantly threw Lowell back to her tail.
“Holy shit!” When Maxwell saw this exciting move with his telescope, he was greatly shocked.
Sephora’s move at that turn just now was beautiful. Maxwell had to admit that even he himself couldn’t do that as perfectly as she did.

After a lap, Sephora was about ten meters ahead of Lowell.
“Damn it. Don’t tell me Lowe is gonna lose to that woman!” Maxwell got so nervous for Lowell.
But Lowell was rather calm right now, chasing Sephora closely.
When passing the last bend, Lowell surged past the flame–colored motorcycle ahead with a perfect tilt and crossed the finish line.
That tilt was even more beautiful than the one Sephora did just now.
Sephora still hadn’t snapped back from her loss. Lowell’s move at the last bend really shocked her.
The game was over. Maxwell ran over excitedly with the telescope in
his hand.

“Lowe, that was awesome!” he exclaimed excitedly as if he were the one who won the game.
Maxwell’s loud call snapped Sephora back from her shock. She got off the motorcycle, took off her helmet, and then walked towards Lowell.
“Congratulations, Mr. Austin, you won!” Sephora smiled at Lowell.
“Since I won, about our bet…”
“I admit defeat. Ás for your project, I’ll talk to Seymour.”
With that, Sephora turned, ready to leave. But Lowell immediately called out to her and stopped her.
“Thank you, Ms. Garcia. To show my gratitude, I wanna treat you to lunch later. Will you?”
Hearing Lowell’s words, Sephora stopped in her tracks.
“Well, it’ll be too impolite for me to refuse it, won’t it, Mr. Austin?”
At this time, Maxwell chimed in, twittering, “Lunch? Great! I’m in,
too!”
Then, the three of them found a nearby restaurant. Because Lowell preferred a quiet environment, they chose to eat in a private room.
After sitting down, Sephora took the menu directly and ordered her favorite dishes.
Motorcycle racing was quite energy–consuming for Sephora, and she was indeed a bit hungry. Since Lowell said it was his treat, Sephora ordered a table of food without any hesitation. She didn’t have to pay for it anyway.

While waiting for the dishes to be served, the private room was in a deadly silence.
Lowell was impassive by nature, and Sephora wouldn’t show much enthusiasm towards unfamiliar people.
In the end, it was Maxwell, who couldn’t stand this awkward atmosphere, breaking the ice.
“Hi, Sephora, right? I’m Maxwell, Lowell’s good buddy,” Maxwell said. to Sephora while putting his arm on Lowell’s shoulder.
Lowell didn’t like being touched by Maxwell like this, so he directly pushed Maxwell’s hand off his shoulder.
“Hi,” Sephora responded lightly, not showing much emotion.
“By the way, how does your little body contain so much strength? Your punch last time was really something! I’m still hurting, you know?” Maxwell bantered while covering his belly with one hand, pretending to feel pain.
But Sephora obviously didn’t wanna respond to that. She just shot a glance at Maxwell, thinking, “What’s the matter with this fragile, rich young man? Trying to guilt–trip me?”
Getting no response, Maxwell smartly shut his mouth, and the private room fell silent again.
Soon, the waiters knocked on the door and brought in the food.
After serving the food, they left the room respectfully and also closed the door.
Then, the three in the room began to eat. No communication was made

either.
After lunch, Lowell suggested that he could send Sephora home. Sephora originally wanted to refuse. But then, she thought that she could use this opportunity to ask Lowell why he was so interested in the land in her hometown.
After getting in the car, Sephora hesitated for a moment before finally asking the question.
“Mr. Austin, why are you so interested in that area of my hometown?”
“I’m a businessman. When I wanna invest in a place, it means that place can bring me huge profit. If we develop your hometown into a tourist attraction, I’m not the only one who can benefit from it. You all can. This is a win–win.”
Lowell didn’t hide his purpose at all, which made Sephora very surprised.
“OK. I’ll talk Seymour into this.” Sephora had thought about Lowell’s words and felt that they made sense.
Then, she asked, “By the way, previously, you said you wanna trade Austin Plaza’s track for mine. Does that still count?”
“Of course.”
