Chapter 22 Alcohol
Sephora was an adopted daughter, but her three brothers all loved her. They never said anything harsh to her and would never do things that would hurt her.
So, Sephora was stunned by the slap. She couldn’t take it and felt like leaving the Levine family right away.
Sephora missed her brothers and wanted to go back to their home. She fetched her phone and called Seymour, hoping he would come to pick
her up.
But before she got through to him, Sephora regretted making the call and hung up.
Calling Seymour would only make her three brothers worry.
Graham was impulsive. Once he knew what the Levine family had done to Sephora, he would come here immediately and try to get justice for her.
Sephora thought, “No. I can’t act like a spoiled child. Besides, Christine has only slapped me because I did something wrong.”
Christine was her birth mother. Sephora didn’t want the Garcia brothers to have a confrontation with her.
Sephora felt awful at the moment, but she didn’t want her brothers to worry about her.
Sephora wondered, “What can I do now?” Then she thought of alcohol.

She remembered hearing about how it could make people forget their troubles.
Sephora decided to give it a try. But she couldn’t do it at the Levine’s home. So, to get a drink, the first thing she should do was to get out of here.
Based on the current situation, Sephora knew that Christine wouldn’t allow her to leave the house. Her only option was to sneak out.
It was still light outside. She wouldn’t be able to sneak out easily right now. Sephora had to wait until night fell.
After it got dark, a maid came and asked Sephora to have dinner. She refused, saying that she wasn’t hungry yet.
Usually, it was Christine who would inform Sephora when dinner was ready. Since Christine sent a maid this time, she was probably still mad at Sephora.
“Mrs. Levine, Ms. Levine said she isn’t hungry yet and doesn’t want to have dinner right now.”
The maid told Christine exactly what Sephora said.
“Is she mad at me? Whatever. I don’t care whether she gets her dinner
or not.”
Christine became angrier after hearing what the maid said.
Bridgette, on the contrary, was happy to see Christine being annoyed. But she didn’t show it. And to maintain her “good daughter” image, Bridgette even tried to comfort Christine.
Sephora was still in her room, so she had no idea what was going on in

the dining room. She was waiting for it to get darker so that she could sneak out for a drink.
Sephora waited for a long time. Finally, the clock struck ten. Christine. and Gerald would normally have been fast asleep.
And Bridgette rarely stayed up late because she believed it was bad for her skin. So, it was a perfect time for Sephora to sneak out.
Sephora opened her wardrobe and put on a casual outfit. Then she slipped into a pair of sneakers. She was ready to go.
Sephora felt someone might see her if she left through the door. So, she decided to climb out of the window instead.
Her room was on the second floor. But to Sephora, such height was not a problem. She climbed out quite easily.
The destination of this secret trip was a pub. Sephora had never been to one before. She was thrilled.
Although Sephora’s three brothers spoiled her, they never allowed her to drink, let alone take her to a pub.
After sneaking out of the Levine’s home, Sephora hailed a cab on the street. The driver was a man in his fifties.
“Take me to the biggest pub in the city, please,” Sephora said excitedly.
“Girl, it’s getting late. Trust me. You wouldn’t like to visit a pub alone.” The kind–hearted driver warned Sephora of the danger.
“It’s alright. My friends are waiting for me there.”
Sephora knew the driver was being kind. But she was too curious.

about pubs and couldn’t wait to visit one. She could only lie.
After hearing Sephora’s answer, the driver didn’t say anything else.
He took Sephora to Austin Pub. Sephora paid the fare and then got out of the car.
Looking at the sign, Sephora thought, “Austin Pub? Austin? Is it another one of Lowell’s properties?
“What are the odds?” Sephora dismissed the guess, pushed the door open, and walked into the pub.
It was the busiest hour. People were dancing vigorously to the loud” music under dazzling lights.
Sephora made her way through the crowd to the counter and sat in a relatively quiet corner.
“Hi. What would you like to drink?” the bartender asked as she sat down.
Sephora had never been to a pub before. She didn’t know what to order.
Sephora looked around and then pointed in the direction of a woman not far away. “What’s she drinking?”
“It’s a Bloody Mary,” The bartender answered after glancing at the glass in that woman’s hand.
The name aroused Sephora’s interest. And she liked the color. She guessed it would taste well too.
“I want a Bloody Mary then.”

“Sure.” The bartender started mixing
His hand movements were so quick that Sephora was amazed.
It was soon finished and Sephora took the cocktail from the bartender’s hands.
True to its name, the drink was as red as blood.
Sephora carefully brought the cocktail to her lips and took a sip. The taste was not bad, so she directly finished the rest in one gulp.
Sephora had never drunk alcohol before. And the Bloody Mary was pretty strong to her, so her face started to blush.
But Sephora hadn’t had enough. She let the bartender make a second. one for her. And she drank it in one gulp again.
Sephora was already a little dazed. She felt slightly dizzy. But it seemed like she had successfully forgotten her troubles.
Sephora asked the bartender for a third glass of cocktail. But seeing that she was already drunk, he hesitated.
ou’re drunk. You’d better call a friend and let her take you home.”
Sephora refused, “No… I don’t want to go home. I want… alcohol.”
“Miss, you can’t have any more. You’re wasted.”
“No. You’re wrong. I’m not… wasted. Where is my drink? I want my drink,” Sephora slurred, clearly drunk.
