“Don’t know what’s good for you!”
Britney just hung up on Silvan and suddenly felt glad she didn’t
get the job at Voyager Investments today.
If she really got the job, with Silvan as her boss, she wouldn’t last
long!
Rodrick was still kind of useful, at least he helped her block the
dirty stuff.
Britney was amused by her own Ah Q spirit.
She sent out several more resumes and didn’t care about the
company size anymore.
As long as it suited her, she wanted to give it a try. What if
there’s a chance?
After finishing up, Britney was about to get up and go back to
her bedroom to rest, but a sharp pain in her stomach made her
break out in a cold sweat.
That feeling was so strong and so familiar.

It was my period.
It was moved up again!
Ever since the miscarriage, her period hadn’t been normal–it
was really messed up.
It always came out of nowhere, and the cramps were worse
than before.
The distance from the sofa to the desk was less than ten meters,
but she still took a long time to get there, holding onto the wall.
Britney, with trembling fingers, took the painkillers out of the
drawer and swallowed them dry.
Touched her forehead, and it was all cold sweat.
Colin said she was really weak, and even with good treatment,
she might not get back to how she was before.
The heart was empty, but it could slowly recover.

That hand that pulled her out of the mud…
The sudden knocking on the door woke Britney up, and she sat up in bed with a start.
The empty room in front of her reminded her that she had just been dreaming.
While I was spacing out, there was a knock at the door again.
Faster and harder than before.
It was like knocking on her forehead, really annoying.
Britney glanced at the time, it was already past midnight.
Who would come looking for her at this hour?
Britney didn’t have time to check, and the phone next to her started ringing urgently.

Five words flashed on the screen–Duck you can sleep with.
She probably wasn’t fully awake and didn’t react right away. She forgot that, feeling upset after Rodrick messed with her that night, she changed his contact name in her phone out of anger.
It wasn’t until she heard Rodrick’s voice outside the door that
she suddenly woke up.
“Open the door! Britney!”
Whose dog got lost in the middle of the night and barked like crazy at her door?
Britney didn’t want to bother and pulled the blanket over her head, planning to keep sleeping.
But Rodrick didn’t calm down, and the knocking on the door got louder and louder.
The way he knocked like that, it was bound to bother the neighbors.
Britney didn’t want to get complained about by the neighbors,
so she just got up angrily to open the door.
But she was careful and only opened it a crack.
It could block dogs and glare at people with one eye.
