Britney was about to leave Fortune Harbor Capital when Cecily called.
She was on the other end and said, “Britney, my brother got sick. Come to the hospital, quick! He just wouldn’t agree to stay, and I couldn’t make him!”
Britney took a cab to the hospital right away. When she saw Elias, he was asking the doctor if he could skip staying in the hospital, saying he still had a lot of work to finish and didn’t have time to stay.

Cecily didn’t even wait for Elias to finish talking and just blurted out all his secrets.
“How was it fine? He was throwing up and had diarrhea, passed out in the office. If his assistant hadn’t forgotten something in the studio and gone back to get it and found him, who knows what would’ve happened!”
Cecily was really mad and kept complaining, totally ignoring Elias’s warning look.
“You can glare at me all you want, but I still have to say it, Britney, you really need to do something about him. He just doesn’t care about his own health! He was doing the work of ten people, staying in the office all day long. His assistant said he hadn’t been home for a week! He was eating, drinking, and
doing everything at the company! It was like he didn’t even care

When she got emotional, Cecily couldn’t help tearing up, and
her voice choked, “If something really happened to you, what
about my mom? What about me?”
When Elias’s dad passed away, Cecily was still in elementary
school, and Selena Finch’s health was already not good.
The whole burden at home suddenly fell on Elias. He became
the pillar of the family and was the only one Cecily and Selena
could count on.
That’s why she reacted like that.
Britney hugged Cecily to comfort her, “It’s okay, I’ll keep an eye
on him, don’t worry.”

“Cecily said how come you did the work of ten people by
yourself?” Britney got serious and actually looked kind of scary.
“It’s not that dramatic.” Elias was still thinking about bluffing his
way through at that moment.
Cecily called me out again, “Why else? To save money! Cut

Hearing that, Britney felt a bit upset.
Even though Cecily didn’t go into details, she kind of knew what
was going on.
Elias probably thought she didn’t have enough money and
couldn’t get new investment, so he wanted to save money for
her and ended up exhausting himself.
Britney didn’t look good, and Elias wasn’t sure what to do, so he
just explained honestly.
“Engineers made too much money these days, even the most
average ones started at a million a year, it cost too much, and we
hadn’t gotten new investment for the project yet, so I just did as
much as I could myself.”
