Chapter74
Lila described it vividly, saw she didn’t react, and looked at her
in confusion.
“Bree, why did you look so pale?”
Britney pressed her face into Lila’s palm and couldn’t help
sighing, “Mom, your hand is so warm.”
She closed her eyes, so Lila couldn’t see the emotion in them.
Lila gently rubbed her face, “Your face was too cold.””
Britney stayed with Lila for a while before she got up and went
home.
Tomorrow was the celebration dinner, she had to get up early to
go to the hotel and get things ready, so it wasn’t convenient for
her to stay at the hospital to take care of Lila.
Of course, more of it was that Lila didn’t want her to stay and
take care of her, afraid she’d get too tired.
Anyway, she was just in the recovery stage after surgery, and
there wasn’t much going on.

Besides, Britney even hired a caregiver, so it was totally fine.
Britney ran into someone she knew in the elevator when she
was going downstairs.
The other person was also surprised to see her.
“Britney, what were you doing here?”
Elias Finch was still holding a soup tureen, so he was probably
here to visit a patient too.
“My mom was in the hospital here.” After Britney explained, she
asked him, “Mr. Finch, were you also here to visit family or
friends?”
“It’s my mom, she fell a couple of days ago.”
“Was it serious?”
“Fracture, not serious.”
“It’s fine as long as you’re okay!”
Britney and Elias also met when they were working on a
project, the same AI project that Britney really liked but Bianca
shot down.
Britney felt a bit embarrassed about it, since she was the one

who reached out to Elias in the first place.
Elias didn’t get it either, so since he ran into it, he just asked.
“Britney, didn’t Royarch Capital show a lot of interest in the
suup I developed before? Why did they suddenly say they didn’t
want to work together anymore?”
Elias was a tech guy, didn’t get all the business tricks, and spoke
really directly.
“Really sorry, Royarch Capital changed to a new investment
director, she was the one making all the decisions about the
project, I didn’t have a say anymore.”
Elias frowned, “I knew it, I thought it was weird at the time. You
were the one talking to me about this project from start to
finish, so why did someone else tell me in the end that you guys
weren’t investing?”
“Sorry.”
But Elias shook his head, “What are you saying sorry for? You
ran around for this project for so long and ended up with
nothing. I’m the one who should feel sorry!”
“Luckily the project had just started, so you still had a chance to
find new investors. Hope I didn’t hold you up.”
Chapter74
“I met other investors later, but I always felt they didn’t get me,
they only cared about profit.” Elias let out a long sigh, “I still felt
Britney was the one who understood me best.”
As the conversation went on, Elias finally asked the question that had puzzled him for a long time, “Britney, I’ve always wondered, with your vision and skills, just being a secretary is really a waste of your talent. You’ve had what it takes to be an independent investor for a while now, so why have you been willing to stay as the president’s secretary at Royarch Capital?”
This question left Britney speechless.
Why else could it be?
Elias probably noticed she was uncomfortable and didn’t ask
further.
