Chapter 24
Linda let out a cold laugh.
At first, she had been worried he might have recognized her. Turns out, she had overthought it.
Joel was just here to pick a fight.
In her past life, though she had returned to the Preston family, all her thoughts were wrapped up in that scumbag Jasper.
She had barely interacted with her seven older brothers.
Other than remembering their names, she knew nothing about their personalities, hobbies, or habits.

She only remembered their names because they were easy to remember. All seven brothers shared the same alphabet “J” at the beginning of their
names.
Linda hadn’t expected that Joel, her sixth brother, clearly didn’t like her.
But she didn’t care.
What are you laughing at?” Joel was visibly irritated by her expression.
He was in a terrible mood today.
He’d been humiliated by a high school student at the hospital this afternoon–not that he cared much about that.
What frustrated him was that he couldn’t find even a single clue about that girl.
He was already on edge. And now he’d heard that Grandma had fainted from being angered by Linda.
Grandma was getting old–what if something had happened to her?
He’d come here to warn Linda as her older brother.
Just because she had been swapped at birth with Elaine, and now the family was trying to make it up to her, giving her anything she wanted. He wanted to remind her that it didn’t mean she could do whatever she pleased.
But to his surprise, before he could say much of anything, Linda was already giving him attitude.
“Doctor Preston,” Linda looked at him with a touch of sarcasm.
“For someone with over ten years of beloved Grandma was faking it?”
Clinical experience, and a world–renowned reputation a
as a
divine doctor, you really couldn’t tell that your
rse
had known Grandma was faking. Her complexion had been normal, breathing steady, and pulse
Joel stared at her in astonishment. Of regular. There was no sign of illness at
He had been surprised that Grandma would fake a fainting spell, but the fact remained–she had been angered by Linda.
So, he hadn’t exposed her. But to think that Linda had;
oticed too… Even their mother and Elaine had been fooled.
“How did you tell?” he asked,
“So, you knew she was faking,” Linda sneered.
Yet still came here to question her? She thought. What was the meaning of that? Was it really for Grandma? Or was he using Grandma as a pretext to stand up for Elaine?
After all, Elaine was the sister he’d grown up with for twenty years. She had upset his sister–so now he was angry?
Joel licked his lips, awkwardly. For a moment, he didn’t know what to say.
Linda stepped forward, hand gripping the door, her face blank. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be closing the door now.”
Joel gritted his teeth and grabbed the door. “Call me Joel!”
He didn’t care about this so–called sister, but hearing her call him “Doctor Preston” annoyed the hell out of him.
He was so pissed that even the awkwardness could be ignored.

Chapter 24
Linda’s expression didn’t change. “Elaine is your sister.”
She had too many brothers. Losing one wouldn’t matter.

If Joel didn’t see her as his sister, then she wasn’t interested in being his sister either.
After spending over a hundred years in countless worlds, she’d learned to let everything go.
She would never again go out of her way to please someone, like she had with Jasper in her past life.
Those who loved her would love her for who she was, and those who didn’t–what was the point of trying to win them over?
