Chapter 20
“Because I stopped loving you a long time ago,” Olivia said, her voice steady, every word a scalpel. “And when the love dies, so dose forgiveness. There are no second chances.”
She watched him–closely.
Watched the light in his eyes flicker out, watched the pain tighten his jaw, climb up his face like vines strangling a crumbling wall.
And for a fleeting moment… she felt good.
Not because she was cruel–but because heartbreakers deserve to be broken, too.
She wasn’t some saint who forgave the man who crushed her.
Especially not the man who destroyed her daughter, her mentors… and dared to called it love.
“This was never just about love, Harrison,” she continued, her voice softer but laced with venom.
“I don’t even love you enough to hate you for breaking my heart.”
She looked him dead in the eye.
“But I do hate you for what you did to Lily. For what you did to Dean West. And you’re dying anyway… so go apologize to them yourself–on the other side.”
Harrison felt something collapse inside his chest.
He shut his eyes, and warm tears slipped past.
“I’d rather you hated me forever… than felt nothing at all,” he choked out.
Olivia let out a cold laugh.
She snapped another photo of him, sunken and frail, eyes full of regret.
“I’ll be hosting that exposé show I mentioned. Featuring you, of course. Ten criminal counts–give or take. I was going to hand the evidence to the cops on Lily’s birthday, but your doctor says you don’t have that long.”
She held the phone screen in front of his face, then turned and walked away.
At the door, she looked back just once.

“I came here just to break you. I hope it hurts like hell.”
And with that, she was gone..
Harrison’s chest seized. A mouthful of blood spilled onto his gown.
Still, he called out after her, over and over, hoping–begging for her to turn around.
She never did.
Even when his gurney passed her on the way to emergency surgery…
She didn’t glance his way.
That was when Harrison Lowell finally believed it—
She didn’t love him anymore.
After five hours of emergency care, he woke up.
Just in time to see Olivia on TV.
Her new live segment premiered that night.
Title: The Ten Crimes of Harrison Lowell.
She read them one by one, in measured, emotionless tones. Then she opened a hotline and invited
anonymous tips.
It went viral.
People came forward in droves. Some called about petty things–rude remarks, veiled threats,
tantrums.
But others…
Others revealed darker truths:
How he protected Emily Ross.
How he threatened grieving families.
How he buried malpractice with bribes.

Even Harrison himself called in.
Reported himself for kidnapping Emily Ross.
Gave the address.
When police arrived, what they found was horrific.
Emily–no longer human–was found shackled to the basement wall like an animal. One arm shattered and one leg were broken.
Her face a grotesque display of medical horror.
Only her mouth remained untouched.
And from it came the same broken chant:
“I’m a disgrace… not a doctor… not even human… I’m an animal…”
Harrison’s condition plummeted.
He refused surgery and signed his confession.
The police pushed for charges, but he was too far gone
Granted parole for medical reasons.
In his final days, he summoned his lawyers.
He rewrote his will.
Everything–his empire, his estates–went to Olivia.
Except the Children’s Fund, which remained untouched.
All he wanted…
was to see her one last time.
He begged.
She never came.

He held on for as long as he could, clinging to the hope she’d walk through the door.
But winter came. And so did the end.
After Harrison’s death, Olivia quietly handled the funeral arrangements.
Standing atop the Liberty Broadcast rooftop, arms wide open to the wind, she let her tears fall
silently.
She had won.
He had suffered.
And yet… it didn’t feel like victory.
“The wind’s strong tonight,” came a familiar voice behind her. “Careful, or it’ll give you a
headache.”
It was Dean West’s former protégé–now the director of the network–Silas Quinn.
Olivia turned, giving him a faint smile.
“Silas… do you think Dean and Elaine would be proud?”
“They would,” he nodded. “They just wanted you to keep living. That’s all they ever wanted. And Lily… she’d want the same.‘
})
Olivia looked up at the sky, her eyes glistening,
“Don’t worry,” she said softly. “I’ll keep going. For the truth. For what’s right. For all of them.”
For Lily.
For Dean and Elaine.
For every voice that got buried in silence.
