Chapter 22
‘They didn’t go to training today?”
But the moment she stepped in, the room fell quiet.
It was as if her presence had disrupted something warm-
something that didn’t include her.
For a moment, it felt like she was the outsider… the unwelcome
guest disturbing their perfect little family scene with Lorena.
Sadie paused, then greeted them politely, her tone distant.
“Jeremy, Malik, Rhett.””
If she didn’t say hello, they’d just accuse her of being petty or
disrespectful again.
She didn’t have the energy to argue over something so trivial. It
was a waste of time.
Rhett raised an eyebrow and looked over. “So? How’d the exam
go? You turned down joining the team just to study–let’s see
how well that pays off.”
Sadie didn’t let his jab get to her. She already knew–no matter
what she did, her brothers never took her seriously.
Chapter 23
She simply said, “I did my best.”
‘I’ll keep doing my best–until I get into Wonder University and
finally get away from all of you!
Malik let out a sarcastic laugh. “Sadie’s never been the academic.
type. Her grades weren’t impressive in freshman or sophomore
year. Now she wants to cram last–minute before graduation?
Please. Even if she looks like she’s working hard, she’ll still end
up behind Lorena.””
Lorena jumped in with a gentle smile. “Malik, don’t say that.
Sadie’s been working really hard lately–even the teachers have
praised her. And test scores aren’t everything, right?”
Sadie’s grip on her backpack tightened, anger rising in her chest.
Her poor grades in her previous life hadn’t been because she
wasn’t smart.
It was because every time she scored higher than Lorena,
Lorena would find a way to stir up trouble–and then the
brothers would turn on her.
To avoid the drama, to avoid being disliked, Sadie had started
intentionally messing up on exams.
That was why her scores were always lower than Lorena’s–not
Chapter 22
because she wasn’t capable, but because she didn’t want to deal
with the fallout.
It didn’t mean she wasn’t good enough.
In her previous life, she’d poured her heart into the exam,
hoping to finally beat Lorena and prove her worth.
But in the end?
Ethan had forced her to apply to the same mediocre university
as Lorena, even though her scores qualified her for something
better.
Just thinking about it made her stomach twist.
She forced herself to stay composed and said, “I’m going back to
my room.”
Her gaze was cold and calm.
But this time–she wasn’t going to play the fool again.
The next morning was Saturday, and Sadie finally let herself
sleep in.
When she came downstairs for breakfast, the house was empty.
Chapter 22
Probably all off at the training camp.
She didn’t care. After eating, she headed back to her room.
Opening her phone, she checked for updates on the gaming
tournament.
Sure enough, the official announcement about the wild card
match had just been released.
Just like last time.
In her previous life, Rhett had gone into the wild card round like
a man possessed–desperate to win, practically fueled by
adrenaline.
It was the only way to qualify for the finals and face off against
the Francis family’s young heir in a revenge match.
Back then, Douglas Team had only won the championship
because they got lucky.
The Francis family’s young heir had withdrawn from the finals.
at the very last moment, which opened the door for Rhett’s
team to claim victory.
But as for why he pulled out, Sadie never found out–not even by
the time she died.
Chapter 22
Some said it was a sudden illness. Others claimed his family
dragged him back to take over the business. But he never came forward to explain anything.
As Sadie scrolled through the tournament info, her fingers
started itching to play again.
But then Sean’s voice echoed in her head.
‘Didn’t we agree? Wait for the exam results before picking up.
the game again!
