Chapter 11
“Hmph, Jessica’s such an idiot. Throwing away a perfect marriage, divoreling and leaving voluntarily. At least she knows her place!” Olivia smirked, swirling her wine glass in imitation of high society manners.
“Jessica, rest assured. Now that you’ve divorced, even if you regret it, it’s too late. From now on, Maxwell Reed and everything that belongs to him will be mine alone!”
Meanwhile, Maxwell sped home recklessly, running countless red lights before finally arriving.
Claire nervously handed him the divorce certificate, not daring to say a word.
The single portrait on the booklet seemed to mock his pitiful state.
Calculating the dates, Jessica must have tricked him a month ago, deliberately using the pretext of a ten–year agreement to make him sign the divorce papers.
Maxwell clutched the divorce certificate tightly, a self–mocking smile twisting his lips as sharp pain lanced through his heart.
“Jessica, people in high society all play around. I’ve already been faithful to you alone for so many years. Now that I’ve found someone else who moves my heart a little, and only want to spend ten years with her, why can’t you just endure it?” he thought, utterly bewildered.
He truly didn’t see anything wrong with his behavior.
Few people could love just one person for a lifetime; he had merely had a change of heart, committing the same sin most men were guilty of.
He had already promised to only play for ten years and return to her afterward. What more could she possibly be unsatisfied with?
Why did she insist on divorce?
Maxwell was completely perplexed.
Since all his contact methods had been blocked, he had to borrow Claire’s phone.
After dialing Jessica’s number, the phone rang several times, only to be answered by an automated voice:
“Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently switched off. Please try again later…”
No matter how many different numbers he tried, the result was the same.
Thud!
With a loud thud, Maxwell threw the phone against the wall, his body radiating cold fury.
The device hit hard, instantly going black and shattering into pieces.
Maxwell merely said coldly: “Have my assistant file for reimbursement!”
With those words, he returned to the bedroom.
Looking at the empty bedroom, his frown deepened.
In the spacious suite, all of Jessica’s clothes had vanished without a trace. Not a single item remained.
The entire bedroom seemed as if Jessica had never existed.

Maxwell leaned against the wall, closing his eyes in exhaustion, pinching the bridge of his nose in extreme frustration.
Only now did he belatedly realize that over these past days, many of Jessica’s belongings had gradually disappeared from the house.
Not just that, but many of their shared memories had vanished as well-
The hundreds of love letters he had written her from courtship to marriage, the ceramic dolls they had made together, the sweet photos from every holiday throughout the years–even their wedding photos–all gone.
Jessica had been thorough in erasing every trace of their past, as if methodically making room for Olivia to take her place.
She didn’t love him anymore. She had completely given up on him.
As this thought surfaced in Maxwell’s mind, he suddenly realized he couldn’t accept it!
From their college days, from the first moment he saw her, he had known she was the one he wanted to spend his life with.
How could she leave now? How could she stop loving him?
Maxwell’s dark eyes gradually hardened, his body emanating bone–chilling coldness as he struggled to twist his lips into a semblance of a smile.
“Jessica, I never said I agreed to let you go. What makes you think you can leave me so easily? Dream on!”
