Suddenly, the car stopped, and a stone–faced bodyguard forcibly dragged Olivia out, throwing her roughly to the ground.
Her beautiful, ethereal white dress instantly became grimy. One high heel came off, her carefully styled hair tangled with her earrings, and her entire appearance was a disheveled mess, completely unlike her previously immaculate self.
Olivia clutched her scraped arm, furious at being reduced to such a state, her eyes reddening with anger.
She was about to explode when something made her pause. Looking around and confirming Maxwell wasn’t present, her fury became impossible to contain.
She struggled to her feet and unhesitatingly slapped the bodyguard across the face.
The crisp sound rang out, deeply insulting.
Not satisfied with this, Olivia viciously kicked the bodyguard. “Who do you think you are? How dare you treat me this way? You’re asking for death!”
“Hmph! One word from me, and you can kiss your job goodbye. Not just you–your entire family will be out of work. I’ll make sure none of you can survive!”
“Olivia, what’s wrong? Why are you so upset?” Maxwell appeared, his concerned words carrying an undercurrent of coldness.
Olivia failed to notice the subtle warning, instantly replacing her furious expression with one of tearful vulnerability as she threw
herself into Maxwell’s arms.
“Mr. Reed, look what this bodyguard did! He deliberately pushed me to the ground. My hand is all scraped and bleeding. It hurts so
much.”

With that, she held up her bloody, scraped arm with tears in her eyes, looking utterly pitiful.
“I just taught him a small lesson. You’re not angry, are you? If you are, I’ll forgive him.”
Witnessing her rapid change in demeanor, Maxwell’s heart turned ice–cold, his entire aura gradually becoming oppressive.
He coldly pushed away her hand, gripping her throat as his eyes narrowed dangerously. “Hmph. Angry? The only person I should be truly angry and furious with is you, isn’t it, Olivia Grant?!”
“What?” Olivia’s eyes widened in disbelief as she choked, her face reddening from lack of oxygen, her throat burning as if slashed by
knives.
“Urgh… let go… Max…”
She desperately slapped at his arm, struggling continuously.
Yet Maxwell showed no mercy, his eyes filled with intense hatred and anger.
“Let you go? Dream on!”
He snarled through gritted teeth.
“Olivia Grant, I never realized you were such a good actress! If you hadn’t deceived me, Jessica wouldn’t have lost faith in me, much,
less divorced me and left!”
Seeing Olivia’s struggles growing weaker, her breathing labored, he violently threw her to the ground.

Chapter 15
Olivia gasped desperately for air, focusing solely on breathing.
After a long while, she finally registered what Maxwell had said,
Her face paled in waves, her heart racing with panic.
But she couldn’t admit her guilt. With tears in her eyes, she feigned ignorance:
“Mr. Reed, what are you talking about? I don’t understand. How could I possibly deceive you? Did Professor Reid tell you something? She’s always disliked me–it’s normal for her to fabricate lies to slander me.”
“Didn’t you say I was your favorite person, that you would always believe me? If you distrust me like this, then I’ll leave. After all, I never accepted your pursuit, we don’t have any real relationship. I shouldn’t be by your side, and I definitely shouldn’t have come here!
Olivia pretended to be defiant as she wiped away tears, struggling to her feet and limping toward the main gate.
Her small frame looked utterly pitiful.
However, one second passed, then two, then five… a full minute elapsed, and Maxwell still hadn’t spoken to stop her, nor had he embraced her to comfort her.
