“Olivia Grant, I never imagined you could be so shameless. Being a mistress is bad enough, but to be Professor Reid’s husband’s mistress? No wonder Professor Reid resigned. And all of Professor Reid’s projects now have your name on them!”
“People online are questioning your abilities, accusing you of stealing projects. The university has verified it was indeed your fault. Your graduate school offer has been rescinded. Your true colors have finally been exposed–it’s about time!”
“How could someone like you, who never works hard and has no real ability, steal someone else’s project to get into graduate school?
You totally deserve this!”
Some onlookers added: “So this is the project thief and homewrecker? She’s not even that pretty, and she’s so shameless. No wonder the university is expelling her!”
Hearing this devastating news, Olivia felt as if the sky was falling.
All her personal belongings had been thrown out, scattered across the floor.
Olivia was furious to the point of breakdown, grabbing a random person to demand answers: “Who threw out my things? Tell me!”
Before the classmate could respond, a cleaning lady irritably cut in: “Hurry up and take your stuff and go! You’ve been expelled–do you think you can still stay here?”
“The university notified you ages ago, but you’ve been away. Are you going to blame me for throwing out your things? If you don’t take these items now, I’ll dispose of them as trash!”
With these words, Olivia completely panicked–she had many luxury items she hadn’t even used yet. They absolutely couldn’t be
thrown away.
She desperately gathered her possessions, hastily bundling them in à bedsheet before dragging everything away.
The other students watched her coldly, whispering mockery under their breath.
Olivia felt utterly humiliated. As she struggled to carry her belongings downstairs, she lost her balance due to the weight and tumbled
down the staircase.
After rolling several times, she slammed hard into a wall, nearly coughing blood. Her head was bleeding profusely, blood
everywhere.
To make matters worse, the bedsheet came undone, with various items raining down on her.
By the time she finally managed to drag everything outside the campus gates, a motorcyclist who didn’t see her coming crashed into her, sending her flying.
She lay in a pool of blood, on the verge of passing out, only to see the biker stop his motorcycle–not to help her, but to steal the luxury goods wrapped in the bedsheet.
Every expensive item, without exception, was taken.
“Puh…” Olivia could no longer hold on. After violently coughing up blood, she finally lost consciousness.
Just then, Maxwell only gave her a cursory glance before instructing his driver to leave.
The driver hesitantly asked: “Mr. Reed, she seems seriously injured. Are you sure we shouldn’t take her to a hospital?”
“No need. There are plenty of people around. Someone will take her to a hospital eventually. Besides, she deserves this.”

His voice was completely devoid of warmth.
The driver could only follow his orders and drive away.
Soon after, Maxwell got out of the car at an alley entrance. Hearing muffled groans of someone being beaten inside, he remained expressionless as he walked in.
His bodyguards had the thugs pinned down. One asked: “Mr. Reed, what should we do with these luxury goods?”
“Sell them. The money will be your bonus for these past days. Don’t bother me with Olivia’s affairs anymore. Let her fend for herself.”
Maxwell turned away and went home.
His house was once again filled with photos of himself and Jessica.
These were all saved from his phone.
Even the fresh flowers on the cabinet were Jessica’s favorites.
He had arranged the mansion to look almost exactly as it had when Jessica was still there.
Yet it felt unbearably empty. Everything was different now.
When Jessica had always been by his side, he had felt her presence was almost inconsequential.
Only now, having completely lost her, did he suddenly realize he couldn’t live without her.
Each day without finding Jessica was another day he couldn’t sleep properly.
