“Everlife Vine?” Lawrence spun around sharply and stared at Eliza. “Of course it’s useful. No doubt about it.”
His voice rose with excitement. “After you gifted His Highness that century–old Purple Shroom last time, the prescription for his treatment has only been missing two rare ingredients. One of them is the Everlife Vine.”
Seriously? Eliza’s eyes widened in surprise, her mouth slightly open.
Before she could respond, Lawrence pressed on eagerly. “Holy Lady, why are you asking about this? Do you actually have some Everlife Vine in your possession?”
“I do,” Eliza replied. “His Highness risked his life to escort me safely to Plutonville and shielded me from more than a few dangers along the way. I’ve come this time to thank him.”
She handed over a wooden box.
Lawrence took it at once, practically snatching it from her hands. The moment he opened it, his eyes lit up; it was indeed Everlife Vine. And this one had clearly matured for over a hundred years.
Lawrence looked so thrilled he might have started dancing on the spot. “This is incredible. Another rare herb checked off His Highness’s list. I knew it. I just knew you’d have century–old Everlife Vine. Ross, see? I told you I wasn’t wrong!”
Eliza paused for a beat when she heard that. “Dr. Larson, how exactly did you know I had a century–old Everlife Vine?” she asked.
Lawrence, still riding the high of his discovery, completely missed the subtle change in her expression. He chuckled smugly. “Well, it was because of the Purple Shroom you gave us last time.
“My nose, I swear, is sharper than any bloodhound’s. I can sniff out every kind of herb under the sun. When I got close to that Purple Shroom, I picked up the scent of Everlife Vine, faint but unmistakable. That lingering herbal fragrance? Only century- old Everlife Vine has that.”
Lifting his chin, Lawrence looked absurdly proud of his sensitive nose, clearly convinced it was a divine gift.
What he failed to notice was how Eliza’s heart skipped a beat. A sharp unease settled in her chest, and a wave of caution swept through her. So it had been the scent.
She remembered now. The century–old Purple Shroom and the Everlife Vine had grown side by side in her pocket farm.
Thanks to the rich spiritual energy in that space, rare herbs grew easily and often shared the same soil. No wonder their scents had mingled.
Eliza pressed her lips together, already making a mental note: from now on, she could no longer carelessly give away the herbs from her pocket farm. Otherwise, someone might eventually piece together the truth.
And what worried her most was still unknown. How did Sophie, before her time travel, manage to uncover the secret of the pocket farm?
If someone else had already started digging around back then, it was entirely possible that they, too, were hunting for the pendant. These century–old herbs showing up one after another could very well expose her.
And if that happened, she would be the one in danger.
Ross noticed her sudden silence. He subtly motioned for Lawrence to zip it, then smiled and changed the subject with practiced ease. By the way, Holy Lady, His Highness asked us to gather a variety of medicinal seeds for you.
“Would you like to take a look now and see if there’s anything you might want?”
Eliza’s eyes lit up at once. “Sure, let’s take a look.”
After handing the Everlife Vine over to Lawrence, she followed Ross to the back where the seeds were stored.

There were a lot. The entire courtyard was filled with trays of seeds, sprouts, and even saplings–all neatly arranged. Some looked like they had just been packaged recently.
